Woohoo Niknok - congratulations:T! Wow - hope I don't go into birth that early - I am sooooo not ready! I have been looking at the statistics and wondering whether I will make it until the end of the week at work! http://spacefem.com/pregnant/charts/duedate3.php

Baby is mega wriggly - and apparently they go mega quiet just before birth so I might be lucky....!

My birthing pool arrived today......my OH had better get trained up in order to sort it out in time! I bet I end up rushed to hospital with a c-section - just my luck! We should be moving in this weekend to new home - just before coming up to 38 weeks! Thank goodness baby hasn't made an appearance yet....!:p I think I must be one of the only ones wanting to be late! I'm not suffering too much although had a bit of hip pain in bed last night.

littleskintdragon - I have been taking Pregnacare since the start - and have had no problems with a lack of anything at blood tests - I haven't even had a cold for 9 months which is unusual for me - I might continue to take them for ever.....!!!!:p (my OH calls them my "horse pills" as they are so big!)

i felt pretty ropey at 24 weeks skintdragon, in fact ive felt really tired my whole pregnancy, it can really knock you for six. be careful if you're taking any vitamins, dont take them on an empty stomach as they'll more than likely make you feel rather sick, as they always did with me.

Just been talking to my friend about sweeps, and she has just informed me that hers hurt more than giving birth...... and she gave birth without any painkillers at all not even gas and air.... now im not a wuss, and I've been through labour once, but god i don't want to put myself through anything uneccessarily... So have spoken to OH and due to the fact, I'm not quite as uncomfortable as I was, Roo is still poorly and I would rather have him better before the baby comes, I could do with getting some rest as roo has been keeping me up most nights oh and not to forget we're picking up the new car on saturday (not that that is really an excuse lol) that I think I might wait and see what happens and cancel fridays appointment and just see what happens instead. But if I haven't had the baby by next weds 40+6, I'll have a sweep then..... anyone else got any experience of sweeps, I have been really put off :(

Please ignore your friend about the sweep, mine didn't hurt at all, have you ever had a smear? It was just like that?

I wouldn't say it was worse than birth... How can two fingers sweeping your cervix actually be compared to pushing a baby out of your body? Doesn't that sound silly to you? Lol

I started with contractions a few hours after my sweep!

thanks mrshaworth2b, that is exactly what I thought it would feel like, so was really suprised to hear my friend say that, she said she has other friends who have felt the same way too....... Very confusing when you haven't actually experienced it for yourself...

Missy. I think the experience varies quite a lot. Some women really do get 'assulted' and the experince is very painful and ineffective. For others, it's totally pain free and starts labour very quickly.

Just like life, it's a bit of pot luck. Hopefully you won't need one :)

I was worried it would hurt when I went for mine but seriously it was just uncomfortable, I had 3 people knock on the door during mine (very distracting) and remember, your going to give birth at some point, the least of your worries will be a sweep when your being checked for dilation. I was examined a total of 4 times during labour and then stitches after, by the end I felt like everyone had been in my private parts! :)

Morning, well I actually slept a bit better last night, got about 7 hours so feel a bit more human.

Thanks for the thoughts on sweeps. I think I will book one in for next week. Can't believe my due date is tomorrow! No one in my family can believe ive actually made it this far. All babies in my family are notoriously early! I'm glad though as roo is still a bit poorly and I'm glad I have just a little bit of time to fuss over him and make him feel better. He's currently in bed beside me, snoring like a little warthog.

Baby wise I think everything is pretty much ready, need to finish my assignment today, sort the washing so its all clean and ready, I couLd do with making roo a couple more dinners for the freezer, hoovering and washing the floor and generally having a tidy up. Oh and I need to sort out bottles and breast pumps, make sure I know where they are and mark them so i dont get babys and roos bottles mixed up. Then I can sterilise them when the baby's here, oh need to iron my sling too. Hmmmm for a small list, that suddenly got bigger!!! Would get up and do some now but don't want to wake everyone....

    Morning all!

Glad you slept better missy - hope Roo gets better soon :( Big hugs to you all.

I relealised last night that although I'm sure I milk a lot of things with this pregnancy, getting out of the bath like a normal person is just something that I cannot do. I have to roll onto my knees and pull myself up - how dignified :rotfl:

Have the MW tomorrow so I'm hoping they tell me that my blood sugar is fine this time - I really don't want to have to do the icky diabetes test.

Considering organising a "pre-baby get together" - is that cheeky? I honestly don't want presents, I just want to see all my friends and family together before I forget what it's like to have a social life!
