Then at my last midwife appointment my midwife put me down as 4/5 engaged, I thought this was far too early and asked her but she said babies can engage at any time.
I then went to antenatel classes where at least half of the ladies were further along than me and some of them hadn't started to engage.
The final straw though was yesterday I had a growth scan and then saw the consultant. I asked him if it was possible that I would go into labour early he said probably not but if you do start having back pain that won't disappear with paracetamol or contractions then it's likely to be labour so I need to phone the labour ward  as you can imagine that put my mind at ease completely.
Glad its not just me then
Perhaps as Ive never had Braxton hicks before im getting 3 pregnancies worth in one go :rotfl:Bow Ties ARE cool "Just because you are offended, doesnt mean you are right" Ricky Gervais0 -

Oh good luck Robyn! And you said you would be last out of us to give birth, looks like you were wrong!
I've got to go for a scan tomorrow AM just to check the baby's ok, just a precaution. Another membrane sweep for 10.45am on Saturday, which I really really hope works, but if not then midwife appointment Tuesday and I've been booked in for an induction at 8am on 1 August  I have mixed feelings about this though because it will probably mean I can't have a water birth and I would rather baby came naturally. On the other hand, I really want baby to come. I don't know what to do.
On the NHS website and other websites it says your midwife is supposed to explain the pros and cons of induction to you before you go ahead with it. She didn't do this, unsurprisingly as she's not a great midwife. I just want to have baby asap and not have to go ahead with it but I feel that it's not a good idea to go too far past due date either. Any advice?0 -
Good luck Robyn!
aMC- my midwife hasn't explained anything at all, not even birthing options0 -
Wow Robyn good luck!!!I think you were planning a home birth?
AMC maybe they will tell you more at the hospital? I learnt at tonight's class that in France they give your due date at week 41. Obviously you don't want to still be here at Christmas waiting, but if you're not comfortable they can't force an induction upon you. You need to consent so don't until you're fully happy you understand what theyre going to do and the pros and cons. If you want to wait another day or so maybe suggest that. Hope you get a better midwife on the unit in hospital.
Just returned from our class. Was very good again chocolate biccieswent through the pain relief etc in quite a bit of depth. The highlight was OH who was volunteered by the group to be the guinea pig to show the group the effects of gas and air! Hilarious! Lucky the effects wears off fast so he could drive home :rotfl:
Still very warm here. My little feeties are looking very podgynot painful though touch wood.
Hopefully we might have a MSE baby by morning! hugs to those that need them and labour vibes to the boldies xxx:j Baby boy arrived 22nd August 2012 :j

Just popped on to say good luck Robyn! I get all excited when I think of when my waters broke, so amazing :-)
LMM, gas and air was fantastic for me! Wonderful stuff! I'd rather take that down the pub with me than have a bottle of wine haha! xxAttitude is a little thing that makes a big difference0 -
I got a new phone on Monday and have been totally engrossed so have only now managed to catch up, been reading for about 2 hours
I apologise if I miss anything/anyone:
Robyn I hope things are going well for you and you are getting your cuddles soon if not already.
Rups with regards to a doppler, I think one of the problems is it can give you false reassurance.
With regards to kicking, I have felt mini_cub from around 20 weeks and I knew what I was looking for too so it does vary from person to person and pregnancy to pregnancy.
I have been in pain since the beginning of this pregnancy and can now barely move. My hip and lower bump are in almost constant pain which has all been checked by mw, consultant and physio all is well. Random pains are normal but then so is growing a third arm
Chrissy I hope things are going well with you, any news since losing your plug?
I had a reassurance scan today (32+) and mini_cub is looking good and is now 4lb. Discussed labour with mw and because my last labour was 6 hours for 2 babies despite having a helping hand she thinks I may be a fast labourer so to get to hospital as soon as things start - hopefully not for a while.
Lots of well wishes to everyone and labour vibes to all who want them.Overdraft = £1000 Emergency fund = £2500
