ah wow that would be ideal though to keep family away. maybe this time, i can use my culture's beliefs and tell people that they can only come after 1 month as that is when they say the baby should not be taken out and about nor people coming over, as baby could get ill or something.

Two weeks alone with the baby! When I had DD I had thought that I really wouldn't want anyone coming to the hospital and the thought of people waiting for me to be wheeled into the ward with the baby horrified me. I was in hospital for induction for two nights and then had a section. DD was born at 4pm. Visiting time was 7pm and I was being wheeled into the ward at exactly 7pm and my Mum, sister, SIL & FIL were all arriving to visit. I couldn't have cared less at that point!

We were practically snowed in for a month after I got home, so we didn't have too many visitors. I wish people wouldn't visit in the morning though. It took me until lunchtime to get dressed and get my makeup on when I had DD.

oh gosh didnt even think of all that. think DH would def tell people to go off. lol i mean after birth is fine but i guess once home, it would be nice to have some sort of space. i have a feeling that as my in laws are now closer they will keep coming but i will have to say sorry no. eek

You might find a month is a bit long, when you've been cooped up on your own without adult conversation it starts to get to you and that's just on maternity leave never mind when the baby is here and your tired and emotional too.
You never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have.

Just a very quick one from me whilst I am still remembering. Popped into Morrisons yesterday evening and found that they are selling off most of their Kiddicare stuff from the baby event. They had the TT nappy bin for £7, kiddicare change mat £3 and a whole heap of other bits. They also had some older bits and pieces for toddlers etc. We were hoping to pick up a cheap bath but alas none in stock! DH has decided that the change mat we bought for downstairs is better than the one we got from M&Ps for £14.

Last of the NHS classes today - nappy changing etc - so think DH is feeling a bit happier as I panicked him the other day when I informed him that 'no nappies dont come with instructions on the back of the packaging'. Think he was hoping they were like a bag of rice with cooking instructions bless him. He did ask me where we can buy or get a manual from then.

Better make a start on tea

    labour vibes to the boldies

Twinklie have you tried upgrading your phone sooner? When I was doing mine ( I think it was a few months before my contract expired) I got the DH upgraded a year before his contract was due to expire so it might be worth trying if you cant wait that long to have no internet.
  • My mates who have kids have told em to make the most of having visitors beacuse after the first few weeks the visiting starts to fizzle out and then stops and then you are generally without adult company for a lot of the time! I have no problem with people visiting as long as they let me know in advance that they are coming round; that way if I am a bit tired or already have people visiting I can arrange a diff time or day with them. I have already prewarned OH that his uncle is not to just pop round whenever he feels like it! His uncle is lovely, but he has learning difficulties so he doesn't quite understand why it isn't always convenient to just drop in and I have vsiions of him being round every day in the first month or so!

Thank god it is nearly 5pm; I've only done just over half a day cos of midwife appt but I am ready to go NOW! heat in the office is growing and people are shutting windows cos "it is blowing" on them! er, hello, pregnant woman sat close by! Not allowed to overheat thank you! Grrrrrr.

Saw my mate this am and she has a goody hamper for me which she is bringing next week; bless her, think she has done all stuff that i will need for my overnight bag as she was saying that i really should pack mine now! Plan to pack it next week once the house is a bit straighter (will that day ever come?) OH is finishing the flooring in the kitchen tonight so I can't get in there to cook - gutted! Will have to get chips or pizza instead then! Lol.

Twinkle best of luck with the move, we'll miss you!

I think the reason everyone tends to be late on this thread is because we all spend far too much time sitting down at a computer screen. ;) Maybe we should all try moving around a bit more (perhaps a mini yoga session every 10th post or something), although in this weather, that's the last thing I feel like doing. Thank goodness the rain is returning on Friday (although I'm panicking that I'm not going to get a chance to wash and air dry the baby things before then, and I start childminding next week so won't be home them). Moon is doing a bit more building of the chest of drawers tonight before he goes, and I think he understands my concerns. Poor man - if flatpack furniture wasn't bad enough, without a nesting pregnant woman giving him a time limit to do it by too. ;)

Well dinner is the on the table and most of the washing I did earlier has been put away, so I'd better go.

    Safe travelling Twinklie.

  • Morning all :D

Well last night was fun as I got up every 45 mins or so to pee or roll over :(

I've no idea whats going on , i still have 8 weeks to go & there is no way im going to call my midwife and try to explain "i just feel like he is going to come early" as she will think im a nutjob :rotfl:

I know exactly what you mean, I am due a couple of days before you but throughout my pregnancy I have had the feeling he is going to come early. Then at my last midwife appointment my midwife put me down as 4/5 engaged, I thought this was far too early and asked her but she said babies can engage at any time.

I then went to antenatel classes where at least half of the ladies were further along than me and some of them hadn't started to engage.

The final straw though was yesterday I had a growth scan and then saw the consultant. I asked him if it was possible that I would go into labour early he said probably not but if you do start having back pain that won't disappear with paracetamol or contractions then it's likely to be labour so I need to phone the labour ward  as you can imagine that put my mind at ease completely :D.
  • Hi everyone, hope you are all well.

My son Harrison was 1 yesterday & i'm now 33 + 3 weeks although will be induced 1 or 2 weeks early due to the diabetes.

After a weekend of arguing me & the oh have split so i'm feeling abit scared.

I'm dreading giving birth alone, I know i'll have to stay in due to the diabetes so who will look after Harrison. How will I cope with 2 babies by myself when i'm up all night feeding a newborn.

I know it's better than being unhappy in a unstable relationship but i'm feeling a bit delicate. :o
I'd rather regret the things I've done than regret the things I haven't done.
