Lol kittenpie, I love your attempts there :D

I've had quite good experiences with midwives so far (except that one time but I've ranted about that enough). I have another appointment next week where I have about 3 million questions so we'll see how that goes!

I really think ante/post natal care in the uk is lacking.

Women and babies aren't monitored enough when they should be, I also don't agree with the amount of women sent home at the start of labour. Yes for some it can be a long and drawn out process but the truth is nobody can predict how things will progress which IMO puts mum and baby at unnecessary risk.

I'm going to stick up for my Midwives :D Just to rattle you all ;)

Mine are lovely. Can't fault them at all. They're always happy, you see the same midwife through your pregnancy (unless some emergency comes up) and they know your name and past details. The ladies at the hospital are lovely too. :)

But I suppose being in North Devon there's not really that many people here. I suppose that's why we were number 1 for maternity wards in the UK. People were actually having Birthing holidays near their due date so they could give birth here :rotfl: I'm extremely lucky to have such a good maternity section :)

My current midwife is lovely, I have had the same one for three pregnancies so don't even need to fill in the green book she does it all for me etc. helps that all 3 pregnancies have been one after the other so she hasn't had time to forget me lol

It is the postnatal ward, I was in for over a week and would cry at the shift change because it was so awful.

1st time no one even talked to me, my sons were stillborn so they didn't know what to do with me and just ignored me.

My community midwife is lovely but over stretched shes running two clinics together. But shes always happy to answer the phone when i ring.
The hospital midwives in the past have been a bit wishy washy not looking forward to going into labour and delivering at the hospital.
Aftercare on the postnatal ward was ok last time so not worried if i have to stay in just the labour is one place i can do without the midwifes unhelpful support.

I dont bother with baby clinics as even though they promote breastfeeding they often forget to swap the charts in the red books so my children looked underweight for bottle fed babies... got fed up of explaining that i was breastfeeding constantly.
I did get threatened with SS after refusing to take my 3yr old to speech therapy as she had issues saying words with L's after the first letter. So off we toddled to speech therapy who said her speech range was way ahead for her age. So waste of time and money.
Im a mum have been for 15 yrs im sure i know if theres a problem with my kids. They dont need weighing every week, if they stop eating i'll consult a doctor etc.
Sometimes i like to imagine that im living on the breadline as a single mum with 3 children to feed and clothe, bills to pay and very little time to myself........ then i wake up and realise im a princess with prince charming by my side and a lovely white castle........ oh wait

I don't have mine weighed.. if they are lacking energy or looking ill I'll speak to the gp. I don't think mine have been weighed more than 2 or 3 times since leaving hospital.

Kitten that's awful if anything you needed more time to talk :(

Have to admit my mum is a midwife so she knows all the midwifes and with my last one I was basicly doted on because I was her daughter...not sure if they are usally like this but they are all lovely to me...even my commuity midwife knows my Mum and is always asking how she is!! -.- (I'd actally prefer it not to be this way considering but nvm lol)

I just hate going to the midwifes because I don't like being poked and prodded and feel that 80% of what they do is pointless & they ask so much information that isnt relevant!!

I do love my Midwife personally, but overall I just hate going if you catch my drift :D

On a postive note I heard from work today and I'm going back full 3 days which is what I wanted :) and I am also only going back for 11 weeks before I am off again on Maternity leave .....wooop lol :-)

Lucky you guys - I have 11 weeks (and a day) left of work...not that I'm counting!

OH has the day off today so he's going to start decorating when I'm not in the house so hopefully the fumes will have died down by the time I get in. He also gave me permission to buy new boots so he is very much in the good books today :D

ETA: 20% off code and a further 25% off footwear code - boots, delivered, £12. Can't beat it!

Interesting to read people's experiences with Midwives. My community midwife last time was useless - perfectly nice, but completely disorganised. So far this time, my community midwife has been lovely, reads my notes and organises things in good time. But she told me last time that the team is having a shift around so I'm getting a different MW. Next appointment is tomorrow so I assume I'll meet the new one then.

The MW that delivered my DS was great, I really couldn't fault her. Post-natal ward was sadly lacking though, but mainly because they were so under-staffed rather than the attitude of the staff. So I'm not looking forward to the ante-natal care at the hospital now that we're supposedly having a baby boom. I'm hoping to be out of there asap once this baby is out!

And I'm getting fed up of my life being on hold because I'm pregnant. The dentist won't take out the wisdom tooth that keeps playing up. And now the Dr won't remove the mole on my chest that has developed a black spot. I just have to keep an eye on it to make sure it doesn't get any worse in the next few weeks. I did manage to convince him to write me a prescription for cocodamol though, so it wasn't all bad.

But on a happier note - only 14 more working days (including today) to go! :T

Though I'm working to 37+1 and my Mum pointed out last night that she had my brother 3 weeks early and my sister 5 weeks early  I better get all of that baby stuff washed!!
