Don't worry about sizing of babies and tearing. DD1 I tore (7lber) DD2 I had nothing and she came out easier (9lber)

OK it was probably the fact it was first and second babies, but still, was weird.

Try not to worry about size - 4 weeks before my eldest was due I was told she was over 8lb, she arrived nearly 5 weeks later at 7lb 15oz. It's all guess work depending on the way baby is lying.

I have to say I had no problems with the ante natal midwives, it's the post natal ones I have serious issues with. I'll be getting out of hospital as soon as I can to avoid that bunch of condescending b1tches.

All went well with diabetic check up this afternoon and called round with girls to see my grandparents. Granda is very pleased with my bump! Last time I called over he was not impressed that I looked like I had lost weight and there was no sign of a bump at all! He loves seeing his family expand and this baby will be great grandchild number 11 (my sister is due 12 weeks after me so thet'll be number 12 and their first great-great grandchild is due between the 2 of us!)

Hello - popping in from the earlier thread again. I completely agree with this above. Ante natal midwives were lovely, but my post-natal experience was a nightmare. I'm actually thinking about going to talk to the head midwife to discuss some of the issues I had last time, in a hope that she'll sort something out so they're not repeated, but I'm probably living in a dreamworld aren't I?

I have the same 4 midwives ante and post natally.. 2 are as thick as piggy poop but the other 2 are bearable.. 1 even seems sensible. She put me down for a homebirth to stir up the consultant lol.

I was measured by my mw today and I am 33" at 34 weeks which apparently is "spot on" - spot on for what - I don't know and baby is already head down (it better not move as I want my homebirth:D!). She wanted to listen to baby's resting heartbeat but baby went completely squiggly for the whole time so she had no chance! She put on my form "very active baby" - I hope it calms down a bit when it makes an appearance!!:p

I have had both an expensive and bargain filled day! I have just bought a new retro fridge freezer which I absolutely love but I have also saved a small fortune on baby clothes.

I bought 31 lots of stuff (ok - some included bodysuit packs) from Tescos online - they have a £10 code if you spend £50 - and TCB was 5% on top - so worked out at around £38!:j(I bought lots of different sizes to save money long term too - I guess I am trying to counteract my expensive fridge freezer purchase;)!).

Ooh fridge sounds ace-is it a Smeg??My dream!!

MW told me last week that the measurements they take are not very accurate and don't really give a good indication. As she said a taller lady may measure smaller due to there being more room and so for me as a short person and less torso space-the bump is going to stick out more! Also she said some people have a layer of fat over which make them measure bigger etc. But I have measured on the top dotted line of the chart the last 2 time snow so despite what she says I fear I'm having a biggun!

I echo the experiences of so called 'community' midwives... once this sprog is out, i'll allow them into my house once for the heel thing (it won't let me write the proper name of it.. censorship gone mad ;) ) test etc, then i flat out refuse to answer the door/phone calls to any midwife or health visiting pleb from thereon. My experiences of them 5 years ago were shocking. My experiences of them recently, both for ante natal 'care' and for healthcare for my 5yo son, have been literally laughable. No chance are they impeding on my life in any way, when they don't even care to look at my name, let alone provide me with health care that i am entitled to. I don't know my midwives name, she doesn't know my name. Appointments are a box ticking exercise with a 2 minute time limit. So called health visitors can't even be arsed to return your constant phone calls and messages. Thank the lord for google and online communities!

While we are battering the bad midwives :p

It is even a waste of time complaining because PALs is based most often at the hospital so you are in fact complaining about 'their friends' who are they going to side with? If they even bother acknowledging a complaint in the first place!!

Then they start harping on about being overworked yadayada... here they shut 1 maternity unit and moved all the staff to the other, they are on short hours because they are OVER STAFFED!!... yet they still can't be bothered to check your name etc.

I had 1 mw try to convince me my last baby was my 7th.. Seriously sat there with a straight face and accusingly said 'we only have 6 older children on here..

I replied.. have you considered turning the page on the notes and reading the next page?...

'Well, there are still o... oh... yes... ok.. sorry... ' *sheepishly leaves room while glowing with embarrassment'

I knew the info was split over 2 pages because the big boss midwife I have known for many years and I looked through them a week earlier!!!

Oooh.. then there was the one who said I couldn't have a home delivery because.. I had no latex gloves! .. I put the phone on loudspeaker and asked her to repeat what she said to KH and my mother.. I then went absolutely ballistic.. On the front of my notes in 3inch red letters it says quite clearly 'LATEX ALLERGY'... She'd not even looked at that!

On the front of my notes there is a big green sticker which states that I have had 2 stillbirths. Yet when I go in worried that I can't feel kicking (not yet happened this pregnancy but still too early to feel kicks) I get treated as though I am being paranoid and then have to explain why I am so worried.

The "is this your first?" from health care professionals, no read the notes I have 2 sons but they died at birth you knobhead. It makes me so angry that they try and just leave me to it. That is what they did last time and look what happened grrr. makes me so angry
