  • I'm glad I have now done my checklist. As long as it is followed all should be ok. It finishes with the sentence ' If I come back to a messy/unclean house there are always other places you can go live!!! :-)' , this does also include OH. I mean business.
As for weight gain, don't worry too much. I think I have said before I have the other problem where they don't think I have gained enough - 19lbs so far. You can never please them as far as I can tell.
Not too sure what to do with my day now. I got all my jobs done in my morning surge of energy! XX

I can't remember exactly who recommended the triple dry deodorant the other day but I got it last night from Tesco and it has made a huge difference - and it doesn't sting! :)
    Was me! Glad it helps!!:j

I don't have scales in my house! When I was booked in I found I was 10kg lighter than I had been with youngest and when weighed 6 weeks later I'd put on 1kg but that was about 8 weeks ago so I have no clue whats going on now!

Am off to maternity for diabetes check up this afternoon so keeping everything crossed its all ok.

Ahhhh just beck from the midwife and now measuring 40cm!!!! At 36 weeks!! And she estimates it's atleast 9lbs odd!!! Sending me for a scan to see just how big next week. Not quite sure what this wil achieve, does anyone know? Do they induce you for big babies? I'm thinking that they don't unless you're diabetic, which they'be ruled out already.

Don't know what to do with myself, reaaaaallllyyy want this baby to come v soon though, as the longer she stays in the bigger she's going to get!!!! Been trying lots of things to try and get her moving, wish there was a definite labour starter!!

I've put on nearly 3 stone!!!! NOOO!!!! But, I am all bump and have an exercise/healthy eating plan in place for when my doctor tells me that it is safe to get back into shape.

I saw my midwife today and, yet again, it was an experience. Tbh, I am not very happy with them and neither is my OH. I have made an appointment to see my doctor next week to discuss a few issues. I know that they are over stretched but how hard is it to answer a few simple questions. You know, she didn't even know how far gone I am and, despite telling them every flipping time about my placenta, they never seem to remember (or possess the ability to read my notes). Arghhhhh!!!!!!! *and breathe*

I am 35 weeks and no one has told me how big baby is or how much they think that he will weigh. In fact, the hospital tell me that he is bang on target but the community midwife told me, with her 'trusty' tape measure, that he is is small and gave me 'the look'. When I flagged it up at the hospital the following week they said that he is perfectly fine.

My hospital is lovely but my local community midwife team are shocking. Being awful, they only seem to be prepared to deal with the copious amount of teenage mums who live in the local vicinity and not with the rare old mums like myself!

Get used to it.. they are incapable of reading notes it seems to be part of their job to not read them. I can't see the point in them because they never ever so much as look at them.

Plus it is just about impossible to tell how big they are by feeling and measuring your tummy.. and the guestimated weights on scans are up to 1.5/2lb off so not really accurate. They base their guesses on the circumference of the tummy and head.. not very accurate at all.

I can't tell you how much I hate going there and how upset they make me feel. I told her about my braxton hicks and she just dismissed it as stretching pains. I know that this is my first but I do know the difference.

    They never god damn listen!

I ended up buying myself two donuts and my cats some heart shaped treats. No wonder I have put on three flipping stone

I know.. that is why I don't go.. if I am ill I will see the gp, if I think there is a problem with the baby I'll ring the consultant.. I won't see a mw at all. I don't think they are informed about most of the more serious issues and are just there to refer you to people who are. They make issue where there is nothing to be concerned about and every pregnancy they find something to pick on which makes the mum worry and turns out to be absolutely nothing.

Many need a severe attitude adjustment. They are rude and aggressive and dismissive. One patronising cow told me 'waters don't break before 37 weeks' (mine break between 30-37 weeks normally, had they looked at my noted they would know this)... I promptly leaped down her throat spread out an garrotted her.. cheeky turd.. I was also told my kidney infection couldn't be that bad because I'd be in agony... erm yes.. why else would I be here you total moron? I now ring the consultants secretary to see when he is working and turn up and wait until he will see me if I need to see him.. I won't see his registrars or midwives or anyone but him.. If I go, it is serious and I will not leave until my answers are satisfactory... but that level of stroppiness is a gift and has to be learned.

BH's are perfectly normal and they can be very uncomfortable and leave you feeling sore and bruised. They are the natural contractions of your uterus which keep it healthy and expel any foreign bodies.. infections, AF etc.. obviously you can't normally feel them but they are always there.

Hopefully I'll be able to fill you in soon. I had a growth scan at 28 wks and 36 wks as measuring consistently 4cm over. Again checked for diabetes, but was all clear. Both have estimated large baby (9.5 - 10lb ish) but no change to birth plans other than being consultant led rather than mw led (but same place in our hospital anyway). I have another scan on Thurs (40+3) assuming it's not here by then, if it's estimated to be over 11lb the advice is to discuss section, but otherwise they'll sweep then and see what happens. They're unlikely to let me go 10-14days over which is standard in our area, so I think they'll be discussing induction or section on Thursday depending on scan results.
It's quite reassuring, as the consultant put it, I'll not be laboring for hours, if it's coming and it's large, the labour tends to be fairly swift, if it's sluggish, they'll just take me in and "get it out". Apparently the inertia of a large baby means once it's on it's way it just wants to come.
In short, don't worry, they're better to know they're expecting a bit baby and have a plan of action if it doesn't go smoothly, than for it to catch them by surprise.
