Advice needed please...I'm planning to breastfeed but am aware that it doesn't always work out, what should I buy? A bottle and steriliser set? a breast pump? everything or nothing? I just don't know!

    Thanks

Nothing... if it is there it is incentive to use it.. if you need anything there will be shops open so you can buy it if you need it.. if you don't need it then it is a waste of money now.

  • I never bought anything with my youngest and not planning on for this one either like Pigpen says if its there so is the incentive to use it, and shops are open 24 hrs if need be.

Very pleased to announce that baby Abigail arrived today. She weighed in at 4.05kg / 8.9 pounds and after very quick onset of labour was delivered by emergency c - sec at 14.25.
We're both doing well and she's feeding like a champ.

    Yaaaaaay saffagirl, huge congratulations xxx

Hugs pigpen, I hope everything sorts itself out.

Well there was me thinking we were all prepared and ready, but have spent the entire day sorting stuff out!! Have dug out the Moses basket and stripped it all ready to be washed. Took all the tags off all the new clothes and washed a load. Sorted out all the hand me downs and put them in order. Sorted all the nappies and wipes so they're accessible, sorted out a place for the MIl to sleep should she have to, as she's looking after little Roo for us whilst we go to the hospital. I've found the blankets and feeding pillows and bouncy chairs , all of which need washing, so currently have an upstairs that resembles a Chinese laundry!!

Reading through previous posts, I used the tommee tippee bottles for Roo and he's still using them now, and hsven't had any problems. But I know some babies can be funny about teet shape and might not like certain sorts of bottles, Roo was really fussy about dummies and would only have the nuby ones.

I too agree with pigpen, wait and see how you get in nikkiann before you buy anything, i remember when roo was a few days old, bombing over to tescos at midnight to get some infacol as his colic was so bad and he was screaming his head off! So getting what you need at any hour shouldn't be a problem.

Oooh get some very sharp head butting down below pains!!!

Could I be added to the list please? Am due August 5th (but because of gestational diabetes plan is to be induced 2 weeks early!)

I've been lying low this week, woke up with tonsillitis on Monday so I've been wiped out all week - still not right but back to work tomorrow, JOY! I've also had a chest infection so been coughing all week and my tummy muscles, which were feeling bad anyway, now hate me.

I haven't bought anything for Wriggler yet but have been looking online at Dr Browns bottles, I used them with youngest and they were brilliant for her colic. I've also been looking at an electric breast pump, my girls weren't able to latch on (I'm inverted on one side and an encounter with a nasty b*tch of a MW knocked all the confidence out of me when having eldest) so I express fed them both, lasted 6 weeks with eldest and 14 weeks with youngest. I found the Avent pump to be best for me so was looking at their electric one but the cheapest I can find it is £80 - I do't know if I can justify that when I know I have no problems with the manual one!! Decisions, decisions!

PigPen, delighted your scan went well. Hope OH was with you x

    Huge congratulations The_Bride!

If you know you're going to be express feeding I would definitely say the cost is justified! It took me about 10 mins to get 7 oz once I started using the electric. Not sure about avent but can certainly recommend the medula swing!

I used the avent (bought from kiddicare as it was about £60) we never got breast feeding going so I half expressed half bottle and found the avent really easy to use. Only annoying thing was my lo didn't get on with the teats so I had to express in avent bottles and then transfer to mothercare to feed, more bottles to sterilise lol
Newly Married, not a 2b anymore!! Mum to two wonderful boys!
