Dizzi.. you are within your rights to say no visitors other than OH if you wish. I'd just bar MIL from the hospital, I have done it a few times much to the disgust of family members. I would stick to my guns and tell both OH and mil she was not welcome and would not be coming and at every mention say.. she is not coming. OH's mum came for a few days after Dot which was traumatic.. she also came the day Squeak arrived and stayed overnight so she left as I git home from hospital which I was more than happy with.LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0

Evening all,
I doubt anyone on this thread remembers me...and sorry for the delay, but just wanted to post to say i had baby Oliver Peter on 3rd February. He weighed 8lb 11oz.
Birth was an amazing experience, not half as bad as i thought it was going to be..i was even expecting the contractions to hurt more! I think Ii had built it up to be the worst thing in my head and then was pleasantly surprised by it!
Thank you to everyone that has been involved with this thread, i have had some brilliant support and advice from it.
Will probably see some of you on the newborn thread in the future. Good luck and labour vibes to you all

Hi Elisabeth!!! Gosh, time flies!! You asked me about the cinch after birth. I was having pain in the middle and I was scared of getting a hernia because I had abdominal diastasis (abs separation over three fingers, check online info). I had a cinch with Velcro on 24h for a couple of weeks, then I had it occasionally and swap it for a compression one that covered all the tummy and was like knickers. The cinch improved my tummy a lot, it went down very quickly and in my opinion helped to put muscles back to where they were supposed to go. Now I'll have to do some exercise but if I suck up I'm in pre-pregnancy shape with regards to tummy, so I guess if I work out the muscles I'll be fine. For my next one I'll definitely have something similar but I think I'll try first a normal corset, cheaper and probably the same. I regretted buying a cinch belt so thick, my hips are much bigger than my waist and the cinch would roll up and be uncomfortable. Or I'll get one with boning or a full piece thighs to under ribs, but something you can tighten up, not just compression underwear. I wish I had bought the bamboo belly bandit since it had so many good reviews and it seemed thin and breathable. It's expensive, though I ended up spending a bit less and being really uncomfortable. However, the I'd do it again, it felt great to have some tummy and back support, plus my muscles went back to its place quicker, but I used it all day and night despite the occasional discomfort. So basically yes, I recommend some kind of belly wrap, many other countries do it by default after birth and if your abs are too separated you'll be given one by your physio. I'll try next time one of those three options: corset (maybe this when going out, as it can be disguised better), belly bandit (althoughI might have the rolling up issue with my hips being so big at the moment) or another cinch with knickers shape / short leggings, but stronger than shop bought compression underwear, which u use now but I feel would have been not enough in the first few weeks.Quit smoking *1st January 2010*

Tomorrow marks the point last pregnancy where I started losing what I now know with hindsight to be bits of mucus plug... marks the start of week 33 as well - and labour started at 33+5 last time, with her coming at 33+6.
So fingers, toes, and everything -especially legs crossed I make it through the next 7 days so my mind can relax a little bit more - I kind of feel if I make it to 34 weeks I'm into some kind of bonus time where it should all start being easier than the last one!
SPD is at ridiculous levels now - I can't lift my feet more than about 1cm off the floor, can't take more than about 5 steps carrying the bairn without fighting back tears of pain... rolled over in bed at the weekend and something in my pelvis went crunch in ways that didn't sound nice or normal and I've been in agony since... and since it's budget-cutting season at the council - I can't get my mum down to help me out at all cos she's tied up with council stuff. Also found out she's in Bulgaria just before my due date for a few days - which really lets me down in terms of her promising to be available to look after our daughter while I go into hospital - she claims my little brother will come down, but he struggles so much with dog allergies here and doesn't really have a clue about babies and little kids - and he's so flighty about what he's actually doing when you come to commit him to something that I can't quite trust he'll come through for us at all. Really really cross about it.Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0 -
Well, we've been at home with George for 2wks now & I'm absolutely loving motherhood, it's the best thing I've ever done
I've added my birth story to the thread, it's a bit of an essay but I've included a bit about pregnancy too so I hope it's helpful to someone.
Big cuddles to everyone & labour vibes to those who need them. Any questions feel free to PM me but I'll be popping in to see how everyone is doing, hope to see some of you on the newborn thread now I'm finally going to move over there0 -
Hello ladies! And welcome to the the new babies and big congratulations to the mummies
Am really tired now - iron levels down to 8.1 despite my spinach overload - which is not helping and back is crippling me - baby has settled back to back againLittle monkey
Heartburn seems to have eased :T Though have probably just tempted fate.....
Was told yesterday I cannot take a maternity break from my MA so have got to keep going to bubba arrives and get started straight after - an essay is due on May 12th and I am having to start it today! Am going to hammer it and get as much done before I have an extra baby to look after!!! In a way its ok, as I am loving it, but on the down side I am so not organised and perhaps need to have a day packing my hospital bag and getting some things for baby first! So think I may have an online shop frenzy later this evening when I get home from uniCan't even remember what I put in my hospital bag I always come straight home after and hardly use any of it  but know I need one "just in case".
helen - hope the house is sorted for you soonI manged to move during both my last pregnancies into houses that were "a bit" of a mess to put it politely. It was not my idea of fun
But at least it will be lovely when baby arrives.
As for funny shaped bellies - mine does some very odd things. Including being twice as big one side and looking like there is no baby on the other side. Quite a scary look  And baby keeps wiggling his head around and crunching against my pubic bone and ferreting round as though he is looking for something (am hoping its not the way out :rotfl:) - which is not a nice feeling at all! Does make me jump
dizzibonde - fingers crossed that all stays well.
Hope everyone else is well xxxx0 -
Aldi's baby stuff is in today if anyone's watching for it - although lots of it seems to be more for weaning-age... mum grabbed me a stairgate and some baby crockery sets and muslins earlier today.Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0

Another arrival here .. My baby girl was born last Friday 22nd February weighing in at 8lb 12.
Congratulations to all the other new mummies x0 -
Congratulations new Mummies on the births
Glad that you're all well and babies are doing well x
Dizzi, hope that you're doing ok - am thinking of you x
Sorry to hear you can't take even a couple months off chonorla, but you sound really organised getting started on your next essay already. Hope that your iron levels don't drop any further; take care of yourself x
Yay for moving helen, but Boo for it being in a state. Hope hubby is managing with getting it sorted so you can all be together again.
A colleague of mine is due in three weeks and moving into a new property tomorrow... she was also told by a "wise old lady" that her baby will be a boy and will arrive on the 2nd March... she's keeping her legs crossed as has nothing for baby yet as their move has been delayed and they've been "camping out" at friends.
As for me, I saw midwife on Monday and baby had turned head down, was measuring slightly over (though my personal opinion is that these measurements are such a rough guide as depends on so many factors they're not anything to fuss over), and my BP was good too. Seeing her again in two weeks so she can keep an eye on my BP and give me my 28 week blood results as they'd not come through yet.
I have just two weeks left of work and am so, so pleased about that! All my patients have now been discharged (and I'm not taking on any new ones) so am just finishing off projects, doing an induction of a new starter and ensuring each staff member taking on part of my role is properly trained in how to do it... perfectly doable!
Tomorrow is Friday - YAY!!!! Hope that we're all well and taking good care of ourselves. Enjoy your evening ladies
