mrs_B, I would definitely go to get checked about the gushing, it may or may not have been your waters, a lady from my time on the thread waited and her baby got quite poorly from an infection. If it's nothing you've only wasted a few hours getting checked x

Thankyou for replying :) Just rung & spoken to the midwife on the labour ward to get some reassurance, she was lovely & didn't make me feel like a stupid, neurotic, first time mum like one did the other night when I rang about Bean being quiet. She said if it was my waters, the chances are I'd have continued to 'leak' fluid which I've not done at all but she said to wear a pad overnight & if I have any loss overnight to give them a ring in the morning. She thinks it's more likely Bean was sat on my bladder but stopping it emptying & then moved which is what caused the gush :)

Oh wow seems I missed some reading before my last post! Here's what I just caught...

Mrsh2b... don't be silly. Ofc you are strong enough. We've all managed it and so will you. Have a little faith in yourself woman! xi

Morocha... yay for dilatedness! Hope little one will be with you soon.

Mrs_B... I wouldn't have been much help on the waters front as mine didn't go until I was nearly fully dilated. Glad you phoned in. Always better to get these things checked ou

    Welcome back Rups xxxt.

Grrr sooo cheesed off. Our local hospital trust's in the papers bragging that they're putting comfy chairs for all the daddies in the labour rooms and stained glass windows to "make the place calming"... try sorting out the behaviour and attitudes of some of your staff first (and firing the particular lead monster with a string of complaints to her name)!

Seriously - they really need to get their priorities right!

    Thank you girls !! :)
MRs_b, Your pictures are absolutely stunning and i must know what color hair you are using, i promised myself to get a new look once baby arrives and red is the color chosen.
My waters broke with DD but it was a bit funny cos i was sleeping very nicely and ive got up suddendly and there is was coming down my legs what it looked like i had wee'd myself, i was certain cos there was no control over it.
This time around, i have so much discharge that im finding it difficult to know, also i need to pee a lot something i have when i get up is a lot of discharge..anyway tmi
Dont be jealous hun, it is likely once you start dilating you will go all the way....

I am sat here, with contractions since 9.00 every 6 minutes but lasting 30 seconds each and still irregular but so glad something is happenign, just hope it continues and do not die down like before last week.

  • We went to see our local birth centre last night. It was so nice, only four rooms all with a pool in there and big bathroom, docking station and there's a visiting room, kitchen for everyone and no visiting hours. I so want to be able to give birth there.

What is everyone else hoping to do? Birth centre or hospital? :)
Newly Married, not a 2b anymore!! Mum to two wonderful boys!
  • Good luck Morocha!

Love the bump pics MrsB, must get a few photos of mine while I still have it!

Hoping I'll be able to discuss pros / cons of birth centre v hospital with midwife on my next visit - she hasn't really been very forthcoming with info so far. I'm thinking hospital so I can have epidural if (when?) I want one but birth centre is a lot closer to home.

After today I have 7 days left to work before mat leave! Looking forward to finishing, I used to love my job but it's been scaled down so much in the last month or two that I don't really have anything to do these days so end up clock watching all day.

Going to pack my hospital bag this weekend I think - need to look up the list of what to put in. I'm a nightmare for packing, I'll end up with a suitcase full!

Sounds like things are definitely getting going again :) I really hope they continue for you & nothing slows down again! I was really crampy last night but nothing happening so I shall just sit tight & keep on waiting :( I'm hoping for an obvious start to labour so there's no mistaking it although I suppose not knowing could be a good thing as I'd be able to dilate happily without knowing it & by the time I realise I'll be ready to go & get in the birth pool up at the hospital :T

Thankyou for saying such lovely things about the pictures :) Unfortunately I don't colour my hair myself, I go to the hairdressers to have it done so can't really be much help in terms of what colour to use. A friend recommended L'oreal Feria in Scarlet Power recently but I'm not really brave enough to do it myself & the amount of hair I have would probably need a good 2/3 packets to cover well enough to guarantee no missed bits by which time I've spent near enough the cost of going to the hairdressers anyway (or thats what I keep telling myself!) :)

I'm also tempted with a new look once Bean arrives. Toying with cutting the length into a long, shoulder length bob. It's only a couple of inches off but I'm still not sure, especially if it makes it more difficult to manage as at the moment I can just tie it up if I don't have time to do anything with it and I've been growing it for what seems like forever :o Maybe I should enjoy it long for a bit & then cut it off just to baffle my husband who finds it odd that I would spend years growing it only to cut it all off again :p

Thankyou for saying lovely things about the pictures :) I definitely recommend having a bump shoot done. It's a special time & nice to have it captured in professional pictures where you look & feel beautiful as I know in some of the pictures we've taken at home I felt like I looked like a bit of a blob :o

It's definitely a pain when things start to wind down at work & you feel like you're just getting paid to clock watch :( That said, I've been at the point where I've wanted to ring work & ask them if I can go back for a bit because I've been so bored at times whilst I've been off :rotfl: There are bits that need doing but it's things I need to do with the husband & unfortunately he's been at work a lot so I've been limited as to what I can do or its been things like getting washing done but I'm struggling to bend over so struggling to get to the washing machine :( I just want Bean to arrive & I get the feeling I shall be made to wait a little longer just yet! Here's hoping the sweep on tuesday kicks it all off if Bean hasn't made an appearance beforehand :)
