    Morning all

Quiet congrats pigpen. Number 11

I'm feeling a bit :( as scan yesterday revealed baby is transverse (horizontal). I'm 33 weeks tomorrow and its unusual apparently for them to be still like that so late. He's got 3 weeks to turn or i'm threatened with hospitalization at 36w and CS.

Whole pregnancy has been so straightforward so far, I was really looking forward to a water/active birth. Think I'm going to feel quite cheated if its taken away. Can someone please tell me to stop being silly :o

You're not being silly - there's nothing wrong with wanting a particular type of birth, nor feeling trepidation at being hospitalised and having to have a c-section. Neither are a particularly nice prospect.

What I will say though, having ended up with an augmented labour, a failed forceps and an emergency c-section, none of it matters that much. Provided you're well cared for (which you will be) there's no need for your baby's birth to be traumatic. Once he or she is here, the method of the birth quickly becomes irrelevant. Sure you talk about it fairly obsessively for a few weeks, but after that, it all fades into the past. The thing that matters is your baby, not how he or she got here.

FMOW, are you sure they can not try to turn him? i think there are some excercises that you can do too. I am sorry your are feeling this way, i guess that is the whole reason why i never bother with making a proper birth plan, cos i know i would be gutted if it did not go to plan.

I have been having a bit of bleeding since last night, so i am off in 20 min to get check over... it could be nothing but it could be something so better get it check. Also i get period pains like on and off.

    Afternoon Ladies,

I had my GTT test yesterday cos my dad is diabetic. All seemed to be fine, she said the midwives would contact me if there was anything wrong, but I'm seeing mine next Tues so i'll ask then about the results.

Had to ring the MW helpline today for some advice. You experienced mammas might be able to help me too?? for the last couple of weeks, i've had what I thought was Braxton Hicks, then they started to get a bit more painful and now they are quite painful :( last night I had 5 or 6 within about 40 mins. My tummy goes really tight for about 40 seconds and the pain feels a bit like period cramps. The MW said that it was unlikely to be Brax Hick as i'm only 27 weeks which is "not that far into my pregnancy" (I have to disagree!!!) and its also my first baby. She said it was either a water infection and has advised me to drink loads to flush it out, or it could be a sign that I'm doing too much?? This made me :rotfl:as I barely move most nights after my tea!!! Ok so I do a couple of little housework type jobs but I cant just do nothing??? the house would be minging and no washing would get done!!! OH is busy prepping and painting the nursery and our bedroom so he does what he can when he can bless him.

I appreciate you cant give me medical advice but thought you might be able to cast any light on the situation. The MW said if it got any worse to ring the delivery unit at the hosp, but I dont want to be a nuisance and a worry pants!!!

Hope you're all ok on this delightful snowy afternoon (Again!)

    Lou x

Hello - just wanted to put your mind at rest - i have been getting strong BH's since 18 weeks. I got talked into believing it was mega dangerous and a definite symptomless UTI, even though i got early BH's (around 24 weeks onwards iirc) with my last pregnancy.

Anyway, because i didn't have a midwife apt til 28 weeks (useless) i fretted and fretted about the developing UTI and talked myself out of it being 'normal' even though googling does suggest it's pretty common. Long story short, managed to wangle a dip test at my 20 week scan and no sign of a UTI or anything untoward. I have noticed though, i get them more in the evening (triggered by tiredness) and they seen to come after eating chocolate/sugar/sweets and especially after drinking tea.... so i presume sugar and caffeine may trigger them in some people.

They are normal though hun :)

Congrats to the births and new pregnancies :):)

Also a quick question from me, is anyone hear waiting to find out if they're needing to be actioned following exposure to Slapped Cheek disease? Sods bloody law, on Monday after a big old red face full of rash, my son has finally been diagnosed with suspected Slapped Cheek after 3 weeks of being mysteriously/unobviously ill. I'm now waiting for a phone call that'll probably never come from a hospital midwife who assured me she'll trace my original booking in bloods to find out if i've already got immunity to it. Hope so because if i have got it, i will have contracted it weeks ago - and i've already had a sore throat and painful ankles this week (could be a threatening common cold and my arthiritis though... who knows!)

    All good fun!
  • Morning Gals,

Just to update you, I had some more bad pains last night etc so this morning at 7.30am I rang the delivery unit and spoke to a lovely MW who was really helpful. Reassured me that yes, they were prob BH and as long as they werent accompanied by anything else (bleeding etc) that was fine and to just try and relax about it all. So I feel much happier now :D

Went to the hosp for a maternity unit show round last night. Was knocked sideways by it all and had a bit of a meltdown with OH when we'd left!!! I think I was just overwhelmed by it all and realised that I'm not ready for it (which at 27 weeks is to be expected and no-one is ever really ready for it are they?!) just sometimes you see or do stuff to do with the baby and you get a bit of a reality check!!!

Congrats to the new arrivals ladies, I'm chuffed to have moved up the list a bit and realised today I only have 45 days at work left............let the countdown commence!!!!!!

    Lou x
But I want a golden goose daddy and I want it right NOW!!!!!

    Yes Verucca dear. :rotfl:

Hope you hear soon about the slap cheek. I'm waiting to find out about the whooping cough vaccine, I didn't get vaccinated when I was little and ended up getting when I was 5, hopefully finding out today.

I asked a while ago about maternity allowance. Well I sent off the for s 2 weeks ago and phone today to see what's happening. Spoke to a very helpful lady who told me my claim was finalised yesterday and tha I will be getting the full amount due to overtime I have worked last year. So we're going to be better off for the 39 weeks.

Congratulations. I LOVE the name Jasper, it was the name we had for the first baby I mc'd after DS1, I could never bring myself to use it after that.

I've had Dot since I had Squeak (they are 2.5 and 16 months now)

I've got 2 new grandbabies born 16 days apart, the first was 10 weeks early.. naughty boy! I was present when DD1 had hers after a 1am phone call with her wailing in the background 'I WANT MY MUMMY!!' .. anyway, I went and got first cuddle! <3 .. if you ever get the chance to be present at a birth.. go!! it is a bit gory but well worth it!

(top top top top top secret #11 possibly due October, if it gets that far, I don't have a good track record)

I absolutely thought you were a couple of days ago - call it intuition. Congratulations x

I've only just got my bloods back regarding whooping cough that were taken 3 weeks ago (relative decided to expose us all to it at Xmas)... showing I didn't contract it (thankfully), but I have zero immunity to it (how on earth I've managed THAT with years working with kids I'm quite impressed with) - I know I was unvaccinated as a kid from it. I know with that one there are only a couple of labs in the country who do the tests so the time it takes for them to come back is really really long!

At docs tomorrow to discuss the icky matter of coming off my anxiety meds (cue meltdown time) so I'll book in for it now I'm over the 28 week marker... as for the meds - normally they want you off them by 34 weeks so they're clear of systems by the time baby arrives, but we're not exactly working to that timescale since the last one was born at 33 weeks so I'm pretty much resigned to coming off them now-ish, although it's a diff doctor to the one I have been seeing so god-knows what they'll say (just praying they don't see mental health and immediately jump to the "refer to social services" button since that will just about finish me off)!

Not going to be a fun or pleasant next few weeks anyway - the idea of being 5 and little bit weeks away from the point it all went wrong last time is really messing with my mind a lot.

I ain't bothering with the maternity unit show arounds - they show you the pretty room on all the virtual tours - last time I got there and basically got the broom cupboard as they assumed I would just be a hook up to monitors, say all's well and home in a couple of hours jobbie!

No further news on pink-pee-gate... I assume it had thawed out to a normal colour by the time the midwife had finished for the day since she was going to send it off to the lab just for the amusing colour it had turned.
Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!
