    Hello all,

    How is everyone today?

I we t for my secon GTT this morning at main hospital and my fasting blood sugar came back at 5.7 which is enough for them to diagnose me with gestational diabetes. So I will attend the diabetic clinic once a week and I've to self monitor blood sugar levels 4 times a day. I was lucky that I got to see dietician and got my monitor today as well.

They also said it is very unlikely that I will go to full term with delivery normally planned for between 38 and 39 weeks.

Has anyone else been diagnosed with GD?

I'm screwed then - mine was 6.1 this morning... had this in a prev pregnancy - a high fasting one that made them tut and check their equipment and look all serious - but no one ever contacted me after doing the full lucozade bomb to tell me there was a problem (I work on the general principle if there's something to worry about they'll ring you pretty sharpish). Considering how crud this pregnancy's been so far - I'm kind of expecting it anyway.

Baby's apparently fine, measuring ok etc from the midwife today - bit of concern over the pee sample till we realised I'd done it this morning while waiting on the GTT at the hospital, and then left my notes in the car while it snowed all lunchtime and early afternoon... for the record pee goes a very amusing pinky colour when it's starting to freeze!

Oh and crossed the 28 week point which is one big tipping point when you're doing it all with one eye on prematurity!

Hi all, thought I should join in here again!
I'm due 23rd July with baby no.2, already have ds who's 18 months.

Morning sickness has been horrible this time round and I'm just back from the hospital today getting a catheter out that I've had since Friday. This little bundle wouldn't let me pee, touch wood I've been able to go since the Cath came out.

I was surprised that they diagnosed on the fasting blood glucose alone tbh and more so as there was no sugar in my urine sample. I really hope you don't get the phone call.

I've checked my bloods 3 times so far and for first thing before breakfast it needs to be under 5.5 and was 5.4 so ok, before lunch it dropped to 3.9 and it needs to be under 6 and before tea it was 6.3 so over the 6 that they want. Just got my one last check to do before bed so hopefully it will be ok.

I have never eaten so healthily and just hope I can manage to control through diet and avoid insulin.

Oh and had midwife after the GTT - baby's head down (I do not like this eyeing an escape route at 28 weeks thing) but not engaged (to be expected), back and butt sticking out... would be lovely but I do not want this one in an exit position for a GOOOOOOOOD while yet!

What amuses me is how less "fiery" this one is compared to their sister - who would kick in utter indignation every time they tried to hear her heartbeat, who chucked an utter strop at being prodded for scans and was generally a pain in-utero completely... yet is the most placid and sweet-natured giggle monster you'd ever come to meet. This one was happily just chilling out sucking its thumb on scans, doesn't go ballistic at the doppler being put on and is calmer when it comes to movements overnight as well (or has a less brutal left-foot at least) - it's just such a consistently maintained difference!
