morocha- thanks for the reply, i have now learnt something new for today:)
is this your first child?? and do you know what sex your having?0 -
Afternoon Ladies,
I had my GTT test yesterday cos my dad is diabetic. All seemed to be fine, she said the midwives would contact me if there was anything wrong, but I'm seeing mine next Tues so i'll ask then about the results.
Had to ring the MW helpline today for some advice. You experienced mammas might be able to help me too?? for the last couple of weeks, i've had what I thought was Braxton Hicks, then they started to get a bit more painful and now they are quite painfullast night I had 5 or 6 within about 40 mins. My tummy goes really tight for about 40 seconds and the pain feels a bit like period cramps. The MW said that it was unlikely to be Brax Hick as i'm only 27 weeks which is "not that far into my pregnancy" (I have to disagree!!!) and its also my first baby. She said it was either a water infection and has advised me to drink loads to flush it out, or it could be a sign that I'm doing too much?? This made me :rotfl:as I barely move most nights after my tea!!! Ok so I do a couple of little housework type jobs but I cant just do nothing??? the house would be minging and no washing would get done!!! OH is busy prepping and painting the nursery and our bedroom so he does what he can when he can bless him.
I appreciate you cant give me medical advice but thought you might be able to cast any light on the situation. The MW said if it got any worse to ring the delivery unit at the hosp, but I dont want to be a nuisance and a worry pants!!!
Hope you're all ok on this delightful snowy afternoon (Again!)
Lou xBut I want a golden goose daddy and I want it right NOW!!!!!
Yes Verucca dear. :rotfl:0 -
Hi Helen, you will learn lots here. This is my second daughter, her name is Jade.
Just want a house; i had BH since i was 16 weeks but they never been painfu, just in the last week ( iam 38+5) i started having them a lot at night and then i get period pain likes. All women are different tho, if you are doing too much during the day or under stress it might be your body telling you to slow down.
I went to see my MW today, my last visit before my due date next friday, everything is fine, she thinks baby will be around 7lbs, amazing cos i am tired of being told my belly is small and i look like a 6 months pregnant lady. On the 1st February she will come to my house to see me if there is not baby here yet.Mejor morir de pie que vivir toda una vida de rodillas.0 -

Whoever you spoke to is a twit!
uterine contractions are natural and occur all the time but normally, they keep bugs and foriegn bodies out of your uterus and keep you healthy and when not pg you don't have a large lump in there for it to squeeze against and they are usually gentle and you can't feel it. During pregnancy they get stronger as the uterus tones up to squish said lump out and it stretches so is more obvious. If you get them often you can be left feeling quite sore and bruised. Should you have any bleeding or liquid loss you should speak to the delivery suite but just ordinary tightenings are nothing to worry about and perfectly normal. Mention it at your next antenatal appt, they'll want blood and stuff anyway so you won't be rushed out so quick
UTI you often get pain on urinating, especially when the bladder is almost empty, I am one of those fortunate people who develops a low grade UTI at conception and with the last 2 pregnancies I ended up in kidney failure by the time they arrived. But it may be worth popping a sample in to the GP just in case? If it is a UTI it is easy enough to treat unless you are me!LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -

Afternoon all,
Hope everyone is having a good day? I'm really bored...! I spent most of the morning in bed -nothing to get up for, and now i'm sat on the sofa not doing a lot!
The house is spotless, everything is ready for the baby, bags are packed, all washing and ironing is done, shopping done, food plan done..not sure what to do with myself now.
Everyone has said enjoy the rest and sleep while i can...but its boring just waiting!
I've had no hint of anything happening...no pains or twinges, no show or trickles of waters....i spent most of yesterday sat on my birthing ball, apart from when i walked around sainsburys, i've had 2 curries in the last week...any other suggestions??
me (40+1) xx0 -
I had a GTT this morning - looks like a popular time for them! The glucose drink was quite disgusting, I was very grateful for the water I was offered afterwards. Should have the results in 3-4 working days.
Despite setting off 30 mins early, I was 40 mins late for my appointment. The bus took 30 mins to go the first half mile of the journey. Can't wait for the snow and ice to be gone!0 -
Afternoon everyone. I haven't been about for ages but I have been lurking. I queue jumped - sorry! Jasper arrived on Monday afternoon less than 30 mins after I got to the hospital weighing in at 7lbs 10.5oz and was born with the sac intact! Was back home by bedtime! Bit stunned by the speed but glad it's all over!
Pigpen - haven't seen you about in ages!! You had squeak just before I had my first.
Nearly there Morocha. Baby will be here before you know it!
Am off for a read back!0 -
Pigpen - haven't seen you about in ages!! You had squeak just before I had my first.!
Congratulations. I LOVE the name Jasper, it was the name we had for the first baby I mc'd after DS1, I could never bring myself to use it after that.
I've had Dot since I had Squeak (they are 2.5 and 16 months now)
I've got 2 new grandbabies born 16 days apart, the first was 10 weeks early.. naughty boy! I was present when DD1 had hers after a 1am phone call with her wailing in the background 'I WANT MY MUMMY!!' .. anyway, I went and got first cuddle!.. if you ever get the chance to be present at a birth.. go!! it is a bit gory but well worth it!
