I think all areas are different and things change all the time - even in the same area!

When I had my last DS (he is just 3) you only got sent for the GTT if your BMI was over 35, but my MW it has just been changed to a BMI of over 30.

Saffa - I got 7 boxes of 60 breast pads when they were on offer at Ocado...I've used precisely 4 pads in 3 weeks! I think it depends how much you leak. one of my friends is very leaky and needed 2-3 per side and changed them every hour or so.

I also only went through 3 packs of maternity pads so something like 30-40 pads then went to normal towels, my blood loss wasn't as heavy as I imagined it might be but again that varies between people I guess. Good luck :)

PS - If youplan to breast feed stock up on Lanisoh cream and put it on from the first feed and put it on religiously after every feed I'm positive its the only reason my nipples haven't been very sore (yet!) from feeding. Wish I'd have stocked up on that instead of breast pads :D
    Well, to contrast ;)
I bought a box of Lansinoh breast pads (as the recommended brand on here) and a set of 10 reusable bamboo ones. Turns out I can soak through a reusable bamboo one, and have even filled a disposable up twice (no mean feat). I've bought two more boxes. Apparently your leakage can slow down/stop later on, but for the moment it's lethal if I don't have pads on at all times just in case. So it's 4 a day (2 daytime, 2 night-time) and my baby is currently 4 weeks old. I have to sleep in a bra for the sole reason of keeping my pads in place :) I highly recommend the Emma Jane bra from Bras4Mums for this purpose if your boobs aren't too huge to begin with as it's good to sleep in. It's also one of the few which stays in place when lying on your side as I'm currently sleeping - my other maternity bras pull funny and my nipple falls out. Not so good for night leakage :)

On the other hand (ladies don't hate me!!) I've got two tubes of Lansinoh lanolin breast cream or whatever it's called and never even opened them.

As for maternity pads I think I went through about 5 boxes. My blood loss wasn't particularly great either and would certainly have been handled fine by 'normal' pads but I really valued the extra padding for a while, and I used quite a few in labour for catching waters etc. I probably used almost an entire box for waters while labouring at home.
  • Just a quick one re: GTT I was bricking it, my friend is a doctor who said you can have 70g of carbs instead of the drink So a piece of toast, midwife didn't know a thing about it so ended up having the drink which wasn't too bad but if it's that bad for you I'd enquire about the toast!

Well, I had my last day at work yesterday which was quite odd :) Mat leave officially starts on Tuesday. It's quite strange to think I'm not going to be going to work for a year although I'm under no illusions it's going to be a year off as people keep saying :) Bringing a child up is a job in itself no matter how much you enjoy it!

I'm hoping to make it to aqua natal next Friday for the 2nd time in my entire pregnancy although I'd much rather Bean arrive before that point :) I had my bump shoot on Thursday & it was amazing, so excited to see the pictures but I'm not sure how long I'm going to have to wait, hopefully not too long though :) The ones I saw whilst I was there looked amazing!

Right, time to potter & try to keep myself active :) Hope everyone is doing well.

Thanks for the advice ladies. Sadly my hyperemesis doesn't respond to lying down, sipping etc It will just come back up whatever I do :( I had it for 40 weeks with pregnancy 1 and 2 (not with number 3 though) and have tried every trick in the book. I sipped last time and after 3 mouthfuls it shot back up. It came up every mouthful after that...

Are you on tablets for your hyperemesis? If not, maybe ask about getting some so that you can do the test.

Our GTT is a glucose drink rather than Lucozade, so it's flat. I wonder if you could have a glucose tablet (or two) rather than a drink? It's worth asking.

Baby went nuts about 20 minutes after I finished my drink!

Still no sign of baby :(

Awww beautiful name - I wanted desperately to call one of ours Elizabeth but with our surname it would have been a bit cruel (think the Hollywood celeb with the name - we have the same surname)!

Evening ladies - Brrrr it's gone cold out hasn't it!

Congratulations Mushypeas on Elizabeth and fingers crossed you're home again soon x

Thank you Queen_B for the tip re TKMaxx and the hungry caterpillar sleeping bag. I had to go to Hobbycraft today as my ribs have expanded again and as the cups still fit thought I'd try some bra extenders. Anyway, I hadn't realised (as never been into a TKMaxx before) but there was a TKMaxx next door. So I convinced OH to pop in there and I found a hungry caterpillar sleeping bag! So excited!!! Also bought a few other bits for baby and now feel sorted in terms of initial clothing needs, apart from perhaps a coat. My aunt has made baby some cardigans of varying thicknesses/warmth etc and need to see them before making a final decision about a coat.

Thank you ladies for all the comments about nappies/wipes/pads etc - I knew this was the place to ask! I've bought a few different brands, size 1 and 2; not loads but enough to last me 3-4 weeks I think so will see what suits baby and take it from there. Have stocked up on wipes now in the sales (again a few different brands) and also have some lasinoh cream and breast pads in. I figure I can always ebay/freecycle them if I don't use them but at least I have them in case I do.

Tomorrow OH and I will be taking down the single bed currently in the nursery and storing it in the loft to make way for the nursery furniture coming on Wednesday - I am so excited!!!

Hope that we're all well, and chonorla I'm sorry to hear you've had another admission - hope that you're back on the meds and feeling somewhat better again.

    have a good evening ladies,
    Saf xx

    Hi lovelies !!

I am fed up now 37+1 today and feel a lot of pressure down there and back ache. Took DD to a party, it was nice, everyone kept asking if i was 6 months and had 3 months to go, couldnt believe it when i told only 3 weeks ( yes i am very hopeful). I am in such a bad mood, what is wrong with me ? Yesterday i received a letter, a injury case i opened in december 2011 and they are offering settlement, can not believe i can pay all my debts off with this. I was not expecting it after i saw the doctor 6 months ago and basically he said, it was nothing and was going to get better in time. I have to post the letter on monday and hopefully get the money soon.

Congrats Pea! Pop onto the newborn thread at some point and say hi. I did a hospital stay too... it's all on the birth story thread, if you get time to read before typing. Hope all is well otherwise and glad OH is moving you :)

Not ignoring the rest of you ladies but cannot contribute on the testing.
