I have 101 size 1 nappies and 54 size 3 nappies at the moment. Thinking of getting 1 pack of size 2 and waiting to see how we get on once baby arrives. Also bought a mixture of brands Huggies, Pampers and Mamia (Aldi). Thinking of getting a pack of sainsburys little angels, anyone ever used these? I wanted to get Tesco ones but don't have one that is close to meI :heart2: saving money0

Hi ladies sorry for gate crashing the thread but while gift shopping I have discovered that the Glasgow Pram centre are giving 10% off all online orders at the moment and it covers prams, cots, cribs and carseats and probably everything else that they stock which remembering what I spent there for my last baby would be quite a substantial saving.
. Hope this is of some use to anybody looking at the big items just now

Hi hope everyone is well. I haven't posted for ages - I left the 24 week thread but its taken me 3 weeks to get to this thread! Gosh I have moved up the list quite a bit aswell!
Glad to see a few familiar faces too (who manged to beat me over here!!)
Does anyone have any idea when the Glucose Test for diabetes has to be done by? I am 27 weeks tomorrow. I went for the test last tuesday and didn't manage it. I still have hyperemesis (been in hospital again over Christmas as the Dr decided it "should" have gone by now and stopped my medication....48 hours later of not keeping anything down I was in A&E due to contractions bought on by the dehydration and admitted back in again.) and have been given more medication now. But the test was at 9 am in the morning. DH was on an early shift so I had to get 2 children to school and one to private nursery before getting to the clinic at 9am. I drank the bottle of lucozade and it came back up faster than it went down  - literally everywhere as I didn't even have time to get to the toilet. That was it then, they said the test was now void and I have got to go back again next Tuesday to try again. I have asked for a later slot but they said that is the only time they do it, and they will keep trying until it worksI was so ill after last week as my stomach took hours to calm back down again and I felt rotten all day and night because I was so empty.
Does anyone know if they will keep on trying as I though it was supposed to be done by 28 weeks????
The MW's this time are just not as nice as my last ones and my last appointment actually took just under 5 minutes as I was ushered in and out so quickly, so I never get time to ask questions
Sorry for the hello then whining session, but you can't even speak directly to a MW - you have to leave a message and they will phone you back in a couple of days, and they always make me feel as though I am being a pain....

My GTT this time is booked for 28 weeks. Last time I had two (high BMI must automatically equal problems mentality) at 18 and 28 weeks - almost passed out at the 28 week one.
I don't think it's one of those tests that HAS to be done by a certain time though - not like things like the nuchal scan are - but I found the later in pregnancy it was, the rougher the test made me feel... this time I'm taking hubby with me to help watch the little one, and make sure I have a soft landing if I pass out!Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0 -
Thanks dizziblonde - so this means it could go on for quite a while then......:(
Mine is due to my BMI - they do the test if you are over 30 - I was 30.5 pre-pregnancy (damn the 0.5!) and the fact my babies are a good size
I didn't realise you feel rubbish after either, I don't feel great to start with (I can only eat a slice of dry toast first thing in the morning and can start drinking after lunch on a good day.) I will be driving myself there and back on my own. I get the feeling they thought I was just being a pain last time, till I threw up everywhere.
Does it really take over 2 hours aswell??? I told them it was my only day in Uni and they said it was the only day they could do it too. Am I likely to make it in after dinner then???0 -
If it's the one I had it's the 2 hour job - plus the time at the end to get your bloods re-taken which can take a little while longer. As for feeling rubbish - I've generally been ok soon as I've eaten, but the other thing that threw me slightly was the tendency for the baby to be slightly quieter the following day on the movement front - they go nuts with the lucozade rocket fuel and wear themselves out!Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0

I had my GTT at 31 and a half weeks. They forgot to book it sooner!! I was worried about m sickness and my needle phobia, but the nurses were so lovely that I was ok. Try lying down after the drink. That helped me. I also sipped it to make sure it wasn't too much of a shock to my poor empty tummy. They thought I was weird because I liked the taste of it! Afterwards I made DH take me out for lunch.
Breast pads - I had to change every hour or so when my milk came in. If you're not a big leaker try the washable ones or LilyPadz, which are reusable (and you can go swimming wearing them).
Maternity towels - I used two at a time for a week as the cushioning helped a lot!
Breast cream - I used Lansinoh a lot (mastitis 7 times), and still have over half a tube left, so just get one tube for now. I couldn't believe how quickly it helped me heal when I used it.
When you first breast feed have painkillers and a hot water bottle to hand. It causes your uterus to contract and start getting back to its normal size, which can be quite painful!
Still no sign of baby. Just waiting now.....If having different experiences, thoughts and ideas to you, or having an opinion that you don't understand, makes me a troll, then I am proud to be a 100% crying, talking, sleeping, walking, living Troll. :hello:0 -
Thanks for the advice ladies. Sadly my hyperemesis doesn't respond to lying down, sipping etc It will just come back up whatever I do
I had it for 40 weeks with pregnancy 1 and 2 (not with number 3 though) and have tried every trick in the book. I sipped last time and after 3 mouthfuls it shot back up. It came up every mouthful after that...
Think I will let them know I may not be in Uni that day. Chances of me keeping food down AFTER a bottle of lucozade are nil - that's if I can keep the lucozade down first! I have only drank flat lemonade since 5 weeks pregnant, so will get sniffing the lucozade in the hope I can get used to it by next tuesday!!
Do I have to drink the whole bottle?
As for the baby going quiet - I have another right wriggler in here that goes constantly 24 hours a day, I permanently have a head bashing my ribs and feet poking my bladder - I have really long babies and I am currently measuring 6 cm so goodness knows what he will be like after lucozade!!! :eek:0 -
Hi everyone, I've never had a GTT and no-one has mentioned sending me for one even though my BMI is over 30. Im 33 weeks now, should i mention it at my next MW appointment?Aims for 2014

My BMI (autocorrect changed that to BMW I wish!) was just over 30 at booking and I didn't get sent for one either. I think all areas are different xThe frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.0
