    Hi,

I was just wondering if I could ask for some advice.

We have been offered a car seat by a lady by a friend of a friend. We are really short of pennies and it is a fairly new seat but I've heard that you shouldn't get second hand seats.

It would be nearly a £100 saving but I guess the saving isn't worth it if it's not safe. I'm just not sure what to do

Tink - I'm going to risk being controversial here! We have a second hand car seat and I see no problem with it. BUT we knew how old it was (not very), how it had been stored (carefully) and the fact that it had been in no accidents.

If it was me I'd scrimp elsewhere to get a new car seat. Even storing a car seat incorrectly can degrade them and make them unsafe.

this one is a tough one, lets see if it was a friend/ brother/sister who gave it to me, it hasnt been used for long and carefully stored i might think about it. But if i am doubting i would just not take it. You can get one for around £50 if you dont want the latest ones. It is your baby's life, i think it is personal, for me as it is with the mattress.

Tesco baby event mailing's out - 9th Jan (although I saw nowt in store today for it but our store's always late) to 11th Feb... worth keeping an eye on Asda as theirs is usually the same time of year.

Usual relatively decent reductions on wipes (I tend to stockpile), newborn size 1 nappies 1/3 off... not seeing much more amazing on a brief skim of the leaflet here.

Oh and they've cut the number of nappies in their packs so gank ones in the old packaging if you can!

Got so much more energy these days that I am planning on going to a Yoga class on a Saturday morning.

Do you think that this will be ok?...the woman at the gym said i should confirm with the MW....have called and left a message, but no reply yet :(

I was fairly active before getting preggo and went to the gym and did a Body Balance class (yoga/ti chi/pilates). I am leaning towards as long as i take it easy and inform the instructor that I am expecting then they can let me know which poses I need to skip?

Any opinions while I wait to hear from the MW....hopefully before the class on Sat :rotfl: but knowing my luch she will get back to me after

We have lots of vests but aren't using them, he lives in sleepsuits. (both with and without feet on the sleepsuits - but just to warn you my newborn has feet too big for some 0-3m sleepsuit feet!).
Clothes generally - make sure they are easy to put on!! poppers rock. You want easy nappy access, pref without undressing baby totally if not needed. We've not used any scratch mitts or integral mitts.
    baby sleeping bags are great.

On the arnica front, most of the tablets are homeopathic (i.e. no arnica in them!) I think there may be one non-homeopathic variety by Weleda (they also do two homeopathic ones though) but I couldn't find it.

We have a few bibs but aren't using them much - and when we have he's managed to throw up over his shoulder, missing the bib entirely.

I got this for stitches: http://www.earthmamaangelbaby.com/postpartum-recovery/new-mama-bottom-spray.html - there is a UK supplier - it was expensive but soothing. Not using it anymore though I have most of the bottle left (typical!). One of the ingredients is witch hazel.

This ^ - it should be fine but IIRC there are some poses and things not to do. And of course your ligaments and things are softer/looser so don't overdo any of the poses.

I;m a yoga bunny and have been doing uoga all the way through with adapted poses, but now (32 weeks) I do a solely pregnancy based class. To be honest it's much better as its aims are different, not sure i would be happy in a normal class. Also you need to know in advance that your instructor a. knows about what poses to avoid etc and b. is happy to have you in the class. Som einstructors simply won't teach pregnant women because there are so many things you need to think about/know and the comeback if something goes wrong could be huge!
  • Yeah i had heard that some wouldnt take pregnant people, i called up and they said as long as i got the ok from the MW i should be fine, there is a preg yoga group in my area but they are quite expensive and the one on a sat morning is inclusive of my gym membership so would rather use that that another added expense :o
