  • First day of maternity for me so trying to take it easy. I've decided I'm going to try and go to the 2 exercise classes for pregnant women every week for the rest of my pregnancy. hopefully will meet lots of mummys to be.

Got my whooping cough jab next week the practice nurse just rang to book me in.

Little one keeps jabbing me in my side, I hope he doesn't think that is the way out!!

    how's everyone else? :)
Newly Married, not a 2b anymore!! Mum to two wonderful boys!
  • Evening ladies,
Congratulations to rups and others that have had babies.
dizzi, sorry you're having such a rubbish time... It sounds like you are not getting the support you deserve from family either... I can offer no advice, but I'm sending you virtual hugs x x

I saw the midwife yesterday she said I had grown 4cm in 2 weeks!! I was really shocked, but then I have felt my tummy stretching loads lately and it is literally covered in stretch marks- maybe I over indulged over the festive period- whoops!!

Have realised how slowly I walk these days today... Was shopping with a friend and had to keep telling her to slow down. My back aches loads and I can feel a lot more pressure in my pelvis. Said to my DH that I feel broken! Only a couple more weeks til due date now though.. Getting very excited!

Going to take the Christmas decs down tomorrow and give the house a dust and Hoover. Washing is up together and I did a big shop on Wednesday that should keep us going for a while. Have packed my hospital bag, but need to do the baby's bag and we have a few last bits to get this weekend!

What baby monitors have people got? There are so many to choose from its confusing!!

Got an official invite to my baby shower today too... We are having afternoon tea in the local tea rooms next saturday. It's gorgeous there and they do the biggest slices of cake ever!

Anyway, enough waffle from me... Although its awfully quiet on this thread at the moment. Where is everyone? I did notice the list is half the size it was when I joined!

    Me (37+3) x

We never had one. We have a relatively small house and I can hear DD from the living room with the TV on *sigh*

If I were to get one I'd be tempted with the video monitor ones. There are times I'd love to see how she's sleeping with her toys etc! I daren't go in her room for fear of waking her :)

Some people rave about the ones that tell you if they stop breathing. My midwife last time said they were more worry that they are worth (e.g. the babies can roll off them and set them off), but others have had very positive experiences with them.

  • Thanks gizmodo. I don't like the idea of the angel ones (with the mat), if they malfunction I would never stop worrying! Hadn't thought about the video ones... I need to do some reading on line I think! X

Baby monitors - I have the lights and sounds one (is it by Tomy?) and it's rubbish to be honest - the power lead is slightly loose on it so you have to wrap the cable around the handset to keep it in, if it comes loose it doesn't cut onto battery power properly but just switches off. I probably wouldn't ever need it - she can make herself heard if she needs to (when hubby's watching her on a morning I can still hear her protesting at the indignity of being dressed from downstairs through two closed doors) but I do like the reassurance of being able to hear every little snuffle overnight to know she's ok (plus her 4am singing to Bunny concerts when she goes back to sleep are really cute).

her new baby barely able to breathe and obviously with something really not right with it .... it's turned out to be whooping cough .

Glad you're okay but is the baby (it?) okay? Poor little thing.

I've been lurking on this thread occasionally - not as creepy as it sounds, I've been picking up tips for my pregnant daughter.

Congratulations Rups ... and all you other new mums, obviously.

Baby appears to be starting to turn the corner - but has been hospitalised and on oxygen for a while... so obviously not a nice set of circumstances for anyone concerned. Poor bairn was really obviously incredibly unwell then and struggling desperately to feed and breathe - no way on this earth I would have had it out and about anywhere in that state (and I'm the hard-hearted/practical person who was out and about with a teeny tiny when discharged from hospital where many would have hidden away in terror for weeks).

lol bamama, my friend delivered her baby last wk. She was absolutely huge from the start, they thought it was twins, then when the scan showed only one baby, they assumed she was having a very big one 9/10lb baby, her baby was born being 7lb.12oz, so no huge, my DD was the same weight when born ! funny how we all carry the babies in different ways. How are u getting on with Dewi at home ?
