Fluff you are making me so excited! I can't wait to meet my son:jBaby Boy born December 20120

Aww how cute fluffnutter - sorry to hear that you're still having problems on one side. We had our breastfeeding class at antenatal the other day, and there were quite a few people there who had friends who had struggled - well done you for finding a way around it though. Hope you heal up soon so you're not in pain. One thing that was really amazing to see was how small their tummies are - when they are first born, it is the size of a small marble, and by I think it was 3 days (my memory is very foggy), it has got to the size of a walnut in it's shell. It's still pretty tiny, which is why they get full very quickly but also why they need frequent feeds as it empties quickly too. This is one of the websites we were recommended to look at for info.Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.I married Moon 8/4/2011, baby boy born 26/9/2012, Angel Baby Poppy born 8/11/15, Rainbow baby boy born 11/2/20170

Anyone who's got the Medela Swing 2nd hand care to share how much they paid? There's one on Gumtree near me at the moment for £85 (claiming still in warranty, but as that's only 6 months by the time I use it it will be outside warranty, even if it's transferrable!) and it seems a bit steep for me (I think it failed to sell on ebay at the same price).0

Best wishes to allLittle man arrived 13 Dec 20120 -
mlbarrett, you know already, that's not fair!
My scan's this afternoon, I'm 21+4 and I've had to wait for AAAAAAGES, and today is dragging.
I want to know that everything with the baby is ok and what flavour it is. And I want to know NOW!
*sulks*
Also, my back hurts. I've discovered that it hurts more if I:
Stand for a while
Stand for a while then sit down
Stand for a while, sit down then try and get back up again (that's the worst)
Roll over in bed
Get into the car
Drive
Get out of the car
Cross my legs
DTD
Anything which doesn't involve sitting down and doing nothing.
This is not fun.0 -

So far I've painted 4 canvasses for the nursery, and some animals on a section of wood above a door in the nursery.
The plan is to paint the same animals from the canvasses/wood on to a toy box chest which will be used to store nappies/wipes in, a money box, make a door sign for the nursery, a comfort blanket, a taggy blanket and a sock monkey and maybe if i have time try my hand at a bandana bib.You never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have.

. But I'm resigned to my plan B. I have real trouble getting him to latch on on one side, so I'm expressing every other feed and bottle feeding him from that side. It's a right pain but it's way too painful for him to feed at the moment. I'm hoping to try again in a few days when things have healed a bit. Might get some support from the breastfeeding workshops about latching him on. Works a dream on the other side! Why can't humans be more symmetrical?
But on the plus side, he has about three cute spurts per day and is now so gorgeous that people faint in awe when they see him. Plus he's growing at a right rate - he put on 7 ounces in three days (how??) so the feeding problems are obviously just being felt by me not him
have you tried, on the side that he cant latch onto so well, holding him under your arm rather than across your chest. So he comes at your boob from a totally different angle ? It takes a bit of pillow juggling to get comfy, usually found it easier to do it this way lying in bed sort of half on your side.
With my first DS didnt matter what I did It bloody hurt to feed, in the end I just expressed the milk for him. With DS2 though it was a breeze and didnt hurt at all ?? maybe because I was right from the start and hadnt got into the cycle of him latching incorrectly causing pain so it hurt regardless of whether he was on correctly or not !Bow Ties ARE cool "Just because you are offended, doesnt mean you are right" Ricky Gervais0 -
I sold my Medela Swing on Ebay for £52 and £5 postage. I sold it with a few extras (unused nipple shields, a tube of lansinoh and the cooling/heat breast pad things) I also sent the receipt so it could be used if needed for the warranty.
I only paid £80 new for it, so they do re-sell wellThe frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.0 -

I have tried the rugby ball hold - it's the only way I can allow him to feed at all on that side although everything's too painful at the moment so hence the expressing for the time being.
You're totally right - if you don't get the latch right from the start the problems just mount up. That's where I am now even though I reckon I've sorted most of the latching problems - the damage has already been done. Oh well, it will heal and we'll give it another go.
He's still getting my milk and he's still on the boob every other feed (which is so great for bonding I've discovered) so I'm trying not to feel too disheartened.
