Lol! Well then I just lost some...
OH found me staring at the baby clothes and thinks there's something wrong. Was looking thinking "there'll be a baby in that outfit soon!" We bought this gorgeous unisex set. A white top with colourful writing that says "I love mum + dad" with white bottoms covered in colourful stripes. Oh and the first thing we bought was a set of two baby grows... with the smurfs on them! Let myself get excited for a little bit ^^0 -
Awwwww baby clothes too cute! I've been looking for I love mummy and daddy outfits but haven't found any that I like yet.
I am great thanks Rups, sprawled on the sofa totally stuffed from eating my tea. Not sure what a GP can do for colds?? luckily *touch wood* I haven't had one so far though I am expecting one in the next couple of weeks as I am always full of cold at Christmas.
Glad baby has woken up money penny.I :heart2: saving money0 -
Wow. Not been on for a few days, just read a couple of pages and about 45 babies have been born. Awesome
Congratulations to all of you new mummies x."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0 -
It's all go around here fluff! XD
I'm not usually a fan of "mummy" stuff... being Welsh, I will be Mam. But it was too cute to leave in the shop!0 -

I try desperately to avoid the "mam" thing - hometown and family use it because of where they're from and it grates on me... except I catch myself saying mammy instead of mummy now - gah!
Now up to 1 1/2 feet high pile of newborn clothes, and a 2 foot high pile of 0-3 clothes - I sense I may need to be brutal and chuck anything looking washed out and tired or I'll never fit this stuff in drawers! Got dead lucky on the drawers - picked up a match on freecycle to the set we currently already have in that room - although space means we're probably going to have to put this set in the wardrobe to have space for two cot-beds in there until they're both old enough to go into bunk beds!
With the plug thing - I had a few days of what looked like (sorry for the TMI description) when you blow your nose during a bad cold and catch a little bit of blood along with the snot into the hanky... just tiny amounts, indeed I didn't think much of it the first time I saw it (after I'd come out of the last of the incredibly useless ante-natal classes), then a couple of days later I had more (but still a very anticlimactic smear) when the pains started kicking off that ended up pushing me into the hospital to get checked out - where they found I was leaking amniotic fluid (I had a slow puncture) and then subsequently went into the whole labour they refused to admit WAS labour saga!Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0 -
Thought I would write this from a daddy’s perspective. I have been a lurker but have been getting helpful tips from all you wonderful ladies and I thought I would give you my birth story.
Before I give more info I would like to say my wife gave birth to a beautiful girl, Alice on Friday 14th weighing 6lbs 15 oz. On 29 weeks she took the GTT test which came back positive so her diet was monitored primarily due to the Gestational diabetes. This towards the end involved tablets and insulin. The bonus was fortnightly scans to ensure all was progressing well. The one negative was the varying size of the baby that we were being told at the scan (growth chart) which at 35 weeks was showing the baby at 7lbs 11oz. This was the only negative throughout the pregnancy as we were built up to think we were having a monster of a baby.
0n 37+1 we went for our usual diabetes check/urine/BP/scan to be told everything was normal and sent on our way. The following day the local midwife called to our house to see my wife as they had yet to meet. She felt her BP was high and that her urine contained protein. She said we should go to maternity to have this checked up. Being the dutiful dad I left work and picked her up to bring her to the hospital. I dropped her off at the door and went to McD’s to get lunch and park the car as I thought she would be an hour getting BP’s monitored. When I did return at 4 ish she had been informed that they were admitted her due to BP and urine test. I thought ok, we have her bag in car so no big deal.
We went up to the ward at around 5:45pm and she got some dinner. 6:15pm arrived and the doctor announced she was being induced immediately. By the way her due date was 27th December. She was rushed through to the birthing suite and strapped up to as far as I can remember to insulin, dextrose, induction drip, magnesium sulphate (pre eclampsia) catheter, baby heart monitor, BP monitor and ECG. We had two wonderful nurses/midwifes who never left us and took readings of all these every 15 minutes. Around 8:00pm the anesthetist was called and due to extremely high BP an epidural was given as this reduces BP. The magic number of liquids allowed was 85ml per hour. No more is allowed which meant if induction drip needed to go up then another drip needed to be reduced. We had amazing care and were kept informed of everything throughout the night. At around 4 she was 4 cm dilated and by 6 was 6 cm dilated. The contractions started and by 6:40am she just wanted to push. The midwife’s allowed and by 7:05am our baby girl was here. I was kept topped up with tea and even got a couple of hours sleep lying on the floor.
The next 24 hours after birth involved being allowed 85 ml of liquid per hour to counteract the eclampsia although there was no restriction on food. Today we got the all clear and were allowed to go home. She is now lying sleeping beside me and even the slightest twitch has me up out my chair checking on her.
As this is our first I can’t really comment on natural compared to induction as a partner but from what I saw my wife was totally aware of everything that was going on round her and had all her questions re induction answered by the midwifes honestly and in layman terms. Due to the underlying problems which occurred during pregnancy we weren’t given an option re induction but safety for both mother and baby was on evidence from start to finish.
If i can offer any advice on a bloke thing let me know.

Spent all day on the settee in and out of naps still feeling sorry for myself
managed to nibble a few bits of food. Told my manager that I won't be making it in to work tomorrow to him saying that if I had given him more notice he could have arranged cover!!! As if I can ring in two days prior to being ill! Really gets me! If anyone else rings in sick I have to sort it but I'm not allowed to be off ill at 28 weeks preggo? Anyway managed to sort it so I only have to do 4 hours and will get to the doctors to see of he can give me anything for my ear ache! Sorry to rant! Feeling very emotional and run down

do you know i just thought of this! when i went to see the midwife on wed, my urine showed trace of glucose, and protein and those white blood cells. then i was went off to labour ward and in the evening when the midwives in the triage took my wee sample and tested it, they said it was all clear! so what the hell happened there? is that possible? i was thinking about that and wondered hope it doesnt show up when i least expect it and i dont know about it until too late? you know?Became Mrs H on the 1st of October 2011!!
