Just not your day Regina.
Still if you've won the lotto, drop us a PM and I'll see if I can't help soothe your knee.0 -
I don't understand why you took the basket back. The person in the kiosk is not the police force and has no power to make you do anything. You should've paid for your items and just left the basket there, if it was that big an issue for her she could easily have called for someone to come and get it. That, I think, would've been the customer-friendly thing to do.
If I were you I would certainly write a letter of complaint to the manager.Je suis Charlie.0 -
What made you fall over? How did you manage to carry all that shopping before it went through the till, but not afterwards? Perhaps you should have just gone through the proper checkout & to the kiosk afterwards.0

The attitude of people on here towards shop workers is surprising sometimes. It's not easy being stuck on your own on the kiosk, especially at night when you have to count the newspaper returns, count and pack away every single lottery scratchcard and shut down the whole thing, while still serving customers. Then someone who is too special to use a regular till comes over with a massive basket of shopping and you are expected to find space to pack it all for them, too right you should take your own basket back. Maybe next time use a proper till where there is space for it. They are not allowed to leave their till. I do feel sorry that you hurt yourself and i really hope you are feeling better soon, but what is with all this complaining culture? Accidents happen sometimes, it's crap but they do. I don't think there is any cause for complaint, you had a bad shopping trip, but actually i don't think the cashiers attitude was any worse than yours. Oh and i think sainsbos security are all employed by Chubb so not technically sainsbo's employees, and they are probably not meant to intervene with accidents. That is for the proper qualified first-aiders, something to do with insurance and people suing companies when they have accidents.
I would agree with this, when I worked in Kiosk it was 5 items or fewer but most people ignored that and came with baskets full. Apparently needing Lottery or Fags seems to override the 5 items or less rule.
I would normally let people off if they went over 5 items, all I asked in return was they took the bags as I packed them as there was not enough space to keep them all on the counter without things falling off and they moved the basket out of the way. If it looked like someone would struggle I would recommend they used a normal checkout. We couldn't leave the Kiosk, if we were the only one in it and there was no space to store Baskets behind the Kiosk without tripping over them when going to get cigarettes or Lottery for impatient members of the public.0 -

I wasn't replying to the OP.
Anyway, the OP was browbeaten into taking the basket back, she should've told the miserable kiosk woman where to shove it.Je suis Charlie.0 -

That would have helped a lot. Then she wouldn't have been served and would have had to go through a regular checkout. Kiosks are not designed to take general shopping through. It was a reasonable request by the Kiosk woman.
I missed the words browbeaten and miserable in the OP.0
