Of course it bloody is. If someone working in a supermarket talks like that to me to me I'll damn well argue and question it.

Like what exactly? Tell me exactly how the OP was spoken to. You have used the words browbeaten and miserable when the OP has not. Why?

have you never thought that with an attitude like that its no wonder you recieve poor service? And its nothing to do with "working in a supermarket" if you get all snotty and arogant with me, i am not going to go out of my way for you, and i think most people would feel the same!

I'm not sure how op managed to get round the supermarket with a basket of shopping and a large bag, I too have a bad back, I couldn't..
Had I fallen and been in that much pain, I wouldn't care about who saw me sitting in the doorway..

That's not to say though that this could have been prevented, the SA could have been a little more helpful, but also if it was me I would have just dumped the basket, or if not I would have just put the shopping in it and left it on the way out..
I always take the moral high ground, it's lovely up here...

Why didn't you use the regular tills like the rest of the shoppers in the store? The purpose of the kiosk is to sell cigarettes, lottery tickets, stamps etc. which aren't sold at the regular tills, not for ordinary shopping which the OP had.

Um, does every vent, warning or praise, come to that, require witnesses or the accused to give evidence?

The OP gave her version of events, and we have no reason to suppose she's making it up.

Oh come on, if their post had any more pointless, overwrought drama in it then it would just be a sprinkle of glitter away from being a script for the next twilight film.

Can I please use that? It applies to so many 'complaints' on MSE.

And leave the kiosk with all those cigarettes, the lottery scratch cards, and albeit closed tills, hmmm yeah great idea in todays society

No, I don't think every vent or warning requires witnesses or the accused to give evidence.

But I also think that we should not automatically take as fact what we are told by a poster.

It's quite possible that the SA has been saying to her friends and colleagues:
"My God! There was this woman who came to my till and she was so rude!
I said 'yes, I can serve you here but you'll have to take the basket back to the pile near the door' and she just went off on one.
She said I was condescending and told me to get on with serving her and not to argue with her'.

    2 sides to every story.

I'm not saying the OP is making it up, my point is (reading through the original post - which I have done several times) that the OP may have taken exception to what is a normal (at least in my experience) response about returning baskets and that what she says afterwards is based on the fact that she was annoyed at the SA.

A number of people, including me, have said that they can see why the SA told the OP that she'd have to take the basket back. The OP couldn't see that reasoning and I think what happened afterwards (that is the alleged rudeness by the SA) was based on that.

I'm not disputing the fall or her injuries.

Forget about the attitude of the kiosk assistant.

    Forget about the basket.

Forget about the attitude of the store.

Focus on your injury and its cause.

You stated that you 'slipped' so by that one has to assume there was contamination on the shop floor.

As you were near the entrance and judging by the wet weather we are having, am I correct is assuming that the floor was wet caused by customers bringing in water on their feet?

If the floor was indeed contaminated, then potentially the store may have been negligent by not ensuring that the floor was in a safe condition for customers.

Without knowing the full details however, I can ony speculate, but (based on your post) you sustained an injury that was due to no fault of your own.

How you wish to resolve or progress this however, is entirely up to you.
