They only bought using my id, so I don't have any fees to pay, so not too bad for me.

I've contacted all 32 sellers and explained the position and I've had lots of nice replies back from the US, Canada and Australia! The scammer was Nigerian, had changed the mailing address on my account. I've already had a couple of them leave me positive feedback, so it ain't all bad! I think the scammers send them a fake paypal email in the hope that they then send out the stuff (to their Nigerian address, yeah right, how often is that going to happen??)

I've done spyware and virus scans, nothing much came to light other than a bit of spyware which has been fixed.

    Phew, what an afternoon.

Just had a response saying Not my problem, you have to pay for the item. What a charmer.

I've gone back and said, Not going to happen, contact ebay about your fees.

Let's wait for the neg. Ebay had better remove it like they said they would in the live help conversation. I did get an emailed transcript of the conversation.

I think all you can do is politely stick to your guns and reitterate to them that your account hs been hacked. After all, what are they going to do...come and find you?! I think it's unlikely. As you say, what a charmer!! As if it's not a nasty enough experience to have your account hacked!

Whilst I understand the issue of sellers losing listing fees etc (I used to sell but not recently) I think it should be up to Ebay to sort that side of things out, not you as the innocent.

I wouldn't count on ebay being all that helpful.

A scammer ran up £50 worth of fees on my account. Ebay were the ones who told me and refunded the fees (this was 3 months ago). Only they didn't round up the refunds as they had the fees, so I still "owe" 22p which I have been trying to clear off my account since then.

I have 3 emails telling me a credit is on its way.

3 more telling me to get back to them with the disputed item numbers (there aren't any - it's an overall balance problem)

And 3 telling me all the scammers fees were refunded and I still owe money.

The last one I have agrees I don't owe money, but tells me I need to give them enough time to credit my account.

I was thinking 3 months might do it actually, but obviously not.

Ebay are not in any hurry to put right problems if you ask me!

Mmm, it is fast becoming apparent that ebay haven't contacted any of the sellers yet - my emails to them are obviously the first they've heard of it, so had I not bothered to do this of my own accord (ebay didn't tell me to do it) they could have potentially been scammed by now and sent out the items if taken in by a fake paypal email.

I have a feeling this is going to cause me a lot more hassle yet.

    Oh dear Purplepatch,

I really hope you don't get a lot of hassle from the sellers.

Right, have done that Browntoa. Thanks. The only high risk thing it found was a trojan called susear.a - could that have been responsible for the hijacking?

Have had lots of the sellers do a mutual withdrawal, which I have duly agreed with and closed the dispute, but two are still demanding payment. Yeah right, you can whistle! Am I missing something here, the two sellers involved are talking like it's my problem. If I'm telling them I'm not paying, even if ebay don't do what they said and remove it, all i stand to get is a NPB strike and neg feedback, they actually stand to lose listing and fvfs?? Surely their reluctance to take any notice of me is going to make them the losers in the long run.

It is apparent ebay still haven't contacted anyone. Has anyone got any experience of their account being hijacked who can advise how long it took ebay to contact the other party. Going to contact live help when it opens at 10am as it seems to be the only way of getting an answer out of ebay. I expect it's a very foolish question, but I don't suppose there is a telephone number for ebay anywhere is there????

Possibly... having done some searches I can't find any description of the payload for susear.a so it's possible... As you say it's listed as a Trojan then it is entirely possible that it's payload is one that is linked to a keylogger or similar.
What AV software do you use? (Sorry this should probably be on the techie board lol) and what exactly was it that found the susear.a infection?
