Ebay account hijacked, a warning...

Thats weird...how do they know you didn't list them unless you told them?
Somethings not quite right at Ebay towers me thinks.
My hijacker listed shoes too....Ugg boots.
OMG!!! Mine too!! :rotfl:
I think they must have picked up on so many items, the same, being listed at once. And obviously known items.... Ugg boots!0 -
But people quite often list loads of the same thing. I don't think thats enough for Ebay to pick it up independently. They must have had some other indication that something was wrong with the listings...like looking out for them?
Wonder if it's a coincidence or the same hacker who hit loads of people?

Yes, won't do any harm! I can't believe it! Off to have a look.
My Gosh, there are hundred's of boots, how did you work out what ones are hijacked?
My (hijacked) listings all said "NIB women's UGG Boots Classic Tall chestnut" in different sizes. I don't see any more with that title.0 -
1. very cheap items (If it seems too good to be true it usually is!)
2. 24 hour auction (Less chance of account owner picking the hijack up until after the end of the auction and payment by paypal)
3. owner hasn't used the account in a long period of time (in one case never sold before)
4. Account owner hasn't sold anything remotely similar in those amounts before.
5. one of the accounts is showing as based in England, but items in USA, and grammar in listing doesn't sound like English is first language.
I could be wrong but the alarm bells are there.Good Enough Club member number 27(2) AND I got me a stalkee!

Morty, I know something about this having read the ebay forums on this subject!! If you go down the ASQ route you'll be contacting the scammer and warning them that they've been rumbled. Think you need to report the listing to ebay instead - not sure how you go about doing that though. Trying to find it on the help pages, but it's all gone a bit sloooowww on there at the moment.0
-
This might be where to report them...
But I can't get the link to open at the moment, keeps crashing. Is it me?0 -
I'm reluctant to report them to Ebay because I have no proof. I have gone the ASQ route because if it's the same person, they won't have bothered to change the email address. ASQ was how I found out my account had been hijacked.
As soon as the person tries to change the email address, an email gets sent to the old email address to alert of the change of address, automatically alerting the account owner. My hijacker didn't even bother to change the password thankfully! Same thing happens if they do!
I don't think alerting the hijacker can have any detrimental effect except they might move on to the next person but they will do that anywayGood Enough Club member number 27(2) AND I got me a stalkee!

Aarrrgggghhh, time for another rant.
There's one particular seller, a woman in the US army, who absolutely cannot get it into her head that I'm not paying. She started off by saying that she still expected payment as she had no way of knowing whether I was telling the truth.
I went back and explained further, along the lines of, I'm a UK ebayer, she's had her mobile phone purchased and "I've" asked her to mail it to me in Nigeria, it is clearly a scam, to check my 100% feedback, contact ebay they will confirm, bla bla bla. She comes back and says she has contacted ebay and if they don't confirm my story within 24 hours she's sending her invoice and she wants it paid. Like they ever reply to emails?!? So, the invoice has just arrived with a curt "send payment within 3 days" added to it. How polite!
:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
What a complete div. I just replied and politely reiterated that I won't be paying and I won't be corresponding further. I've referred her to my About Me page where I've put a full explanation of what happened and what options sellers have got for reclaiming fees, ie a mutual withdrawal or contact Live Help.
I don't know what else I can do. Bloody ebay are next to useless. They haven't contacted any of the 32 sellers yet where the auctions ended before the hijacking was reported, only contacted the ones that hadn't ended, so I could potentially have another 20 or so idiots to deal with. I've heard back from about 10 sellers so far, most of them have been really understanding. I have a feeling the rest will be the inexperienced sellers who haven't a clue.:(:(:(
I'm really cheesed off.
And to cap it all off, I want to watch Life on Mars, but DH wants to watch the bloody football and record LOM. Grrrrrrrrrrrr.0 -
((Hugs)) Purplepatch. Put the American army woman down to her being American and forget about her. You have done all you can to convince her and there's little else you can do. At least you won't be paying her so she won't send the phone so the 2nd part of the double whammy scam that auction COULD be, won't work!
Let her get irate and ignore the emails or send her the exact same response to every email she sends you, and if she is harassing you, report her to Ebay and then block her email address. Once Ebay have removed the auctions she can't leave feedback and if she does, respond calmly with the information that your account was hijacked and you tried to explain this to her.
I'm sorry this is happening to you
