Hi, I came across this page when I did a search for these 2 companies, as I had a letter this morning.
the letter from Transcom said I owed £485, to Arrow Global.
I rang the number on the letter, and was straight away asked for my details, Ref number, address, DOB etc, which I gave...
The guy then asked me for a couple more details, at which point I lost my temper a little, and informed him he'd got enough of my details. I told him very firmly him I have no debts, and have had none for a number of years, and that if by any chance it was an old debt of mine, it was 12 to 15 years old, and as I've heard nothing for 6 years, it would be null and void. The guy then back tracked saying, they'd got the wrong Mr Brown, and to disregard the letter....
I finished off by telling him that if any black marks appeared on my record, I'd be taking legal advice and seeing damages, he said that wouldn't be necessary. I finished off by calling him a couple of expletives I wont repeat here, and hanging up.
Reading through here maybe I should have done it all in writing?? Hopefully they've gotten the message tho, he backtracked sharply when i told him I have no debts from recent years and knew my rights.

I sent Transcom an 'I don't know who you are or what this is for so I'm not paying' letter and on 20th august got a 'we have queried this account with our client' letter in response. The only detail they gave is that it's Kays catalogue, so definately not mine.
They want me to send proof of residence since 2001 to present, (don't know if 2001 is when the mystery purchase was made?) but I've not replied as I've no intention of going up in the loft to find a piece of paper to prove I've been here a decade.
Not heard anything since.....0 -
It's up to them to prove you owe something. Not up to you to prove you don't.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

I'm very thankful I found this page, and this Forum, and thankyou to Google to getting me here.
Friday 28/09/2012 I received the demand for £219:49p from Transcom Worldwide (UK) Limited on behalf of Arrow Global Guernsey Limited, out of the blue with no previous comminication or even knowledge of these two companies.
Transcom has a rather flash website but carries a disturbing message, 'we can be very persuasive'?! I first sent them an email saying I had no idea what this alleged debt was for and that as far as I was concerned I'd been debt free since 2006! And more or less told them to leave me alone.
After a worrying weekend, I did phone them on the Friday, put on hold for an hour then told to leave my details and they'd get back to me, they didn't and I'd stupidly left my landline number. Two or three of my dog walking pals thought it was a 'con job' and to forget about it, which for me is easier said than done as it brought back lousy memories of when I was ill and had creditors coming out of my ears.
Monday I'd calmed down a little and did some Googling. Nothing much comes up for Transcom Worldwide (UK) Ltd but a lot for Arrow Global Guernsey Limited. As you are all well aware. Monday I found your 'You think I have a debt prove it' letter which I emailed to both companies and various other bodies, CAB, Trading Standards Suffolk, OFT, The East Anglian Daily Times and the Ipswich and Felixstowe Evening Star!
Today, Wednesday 03/10/2012 I received a letter from Transcom. The debt is to Marshall Ward from 1998! In late 1999 I had a nervous breakdown basically lost everything, house, car the lot, only 4 years left on the mortgage too! For 2 years I was in the widerness sleeping in woods, stealing food, drink and selling everything I could possibly sell for a fraction of their value to another outfit with shady morals who haunt our High Streets now preying on the vulnerable and desperate. My 'camp' was discovered by a former neighbours dog! He and his wife did the Good Samaritan thing and I was pushed and shoved kicking and screaming back into society, sometimes I wish they'd left me there.
Now I was in the hands of the 'System', but the one saving grace was a lady named Tracey who worked for a now defunct support agency. I owe her my life, no really, because once my former home had been auctioned off the creditors came calling, 'fousands of 'em'! It became so bad we had to ask what the debt was for? Tracey saw me through all that and in 2006 I was declared debt free for the first time in 8 years totally debt free, even took Tracey and her boss out for a slap up to celebrate!
At least I thought I was debt free until this shower turned up, I did have CCJ's (2/3?) but you know when your credit rating is on the up when the banking institutions start offering you loans and cards and increased credit limits, hardly have that with outstanding debts?!
I spoke to a lady called Alison from Transcom this morning, and made her aware of Arrow Global's allegedly sharp practices as its seems they are dragging up old CCJ's and persuing the debts paid or not, she seemed most concerned when I said it doesn't reflect well on her company. She promised me that I wouldn't hear anymore from them, Transcom, however, this remains to be seen, and she has referred the matter back to the Guernsey outfit!
As far as I am concerned and am aware of I am debt free, and that brings me up to date, sorry to be so long winded, but never been one to use one word when I can use twenty!
Off for my annual flu jab!

Here you go
It seems this CEO knows a bit about the brown and smelly side of business, because he's in it now!
Their tactics probably accounts for my letter, Marshall Ward are or were Manchester based.
Wish they'd check to see whether the debts have been paid before sending out their nasty little letters, or rather getting someone else to do their dirty work for them and take the flak for them!

There's no indication on the letter as to the 'original creditor'?
It still amazes me that any business can just send a letter saying 'you owe us £83' when they must know the recipient will have no clue what it is about. The scary thing is that a lot of people must just pay up, otherwise they would not issue letters like this.
I feel like writing a few myself sometimes.
Anyway your choices are, as you know, a 'prove it' letter or just ignore.
You may want to check your credit file if a clean file is important to you.
I live in sheltered housing and still have a fair few of my marbles in working order, however, some of my elderly neighbours do not and I could quite imagine a few of them paying up without querying such a letter.
I have informed our warden and the correct person in our Housing Association to beware of the nature of this letter/scam! Or perhaps I'm the only one with a history of bad debts!
Squeaky clean credit rating according to checkmyfile.com, in fact the only fault is I don't borrow enough!

Another update,I received a letter stating they had gotten the wrong person and they will not contact me again as it is clearly not my debt (it was though many many years ago as I recognised the figure exactly as an old CCJ/debt - all cleared now off my credit report - well 3 years ago actually). Funny thing is I know it was my debt now status barred and that there is pretty much no one else with my name in the country. So it is all threats and sending the two prove it and no unsolicited/you're not welcome to visit letters really do work and deterring them from chasing the debt up. I've no doubt it will resurface it's ugly head again under another debt company or division of ArrowGlobal, however it seems they don't always want the fight and will just scare/persue the easy victims.0
