Transcom/Arrow Global - unknown debt

If you send a prove-it, they must send some evidence that ties you to the account. Maybe a signed agreement or some statements sent to you when you were operating the account.
Otherwise anyone could demand money from anyone just by making up a six digit reference number.
If it is the old Orange account, you know that it has been more than six years since you last acknowledged the debt by payment or in writing. So you know it is statute barred and can send them the SB letter.0 -
Thank you,
When you say 'last acknowledged the debt' what do you mean? When I last made any contact or payment? That was definitely late 2005. As I moved shortly after that.
Strangely too, just checked my credit file and I all of a sudden, out of nowhere have a few 'unrecorded enquiry's' by a random company I've never heard of called Lowell Portfolio or something! !!!!!!!
I've never even heard of these people and all my other debts are being paid and in the hands of a management company! I will send the prove it tomorrow to Transcom/Arrow by recorded delivery? Any other advice on how it should be sent?
Thank you0 -

They want me to send proof of residence since 2001 to present, (don't know if 2001 is when the mystery purchase was made?) but I've not replied as I've no intention of going up in the loft to find a piece of paper to prove I've been here a decade.
Not heard anything since.....
I received a similar response - only mine was Littlewoods Catalogue that has nothing to do with me. I have no intention of spending anytime to prove that I wasn't living at my current address at the time of the debt. They can definitely whistle for it. All very annoying!!0 -
The burden of proof is on them to prove you owe the debt. Not for you do prove you don't.
If they don't have the requisite proof, then as said, they can go whistle. :whistle:Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

After all the hassle of phone calls, sending the prove it letter(which Transcom ignored) registering on the fraud line I then receive another letter which basically says that because the debt is old it is now classed as statue barred. From the wording in the letter they still believe that I am the debtor which infuriates me because I have no debt at all, I've never had a catalogue from JD Williams or am in need of plus size clothing or shoes!!!!I have since found out that the debt is for someone who has the same first initial and surname, birth date and lives in the same location as myself . Transcom said they sent their letter to me as my name appears first alphabetically on the electoral role !!! They assumed I was the debtor, to which I replied that I never just go by my first initial on correspondence I always use my middle name so they had no right to assume I was the debtor.Their mistake has made this last month very stressful and they didnt bat an eyelid when I said that I was out of pocket for the number of calls and correspondence I'd had to make and send to prove my innocence. On a more positive note I'm so grateful for the help provided by the members on this site and it's now my mission to promote it to everyone I speak to ! :j:j:j0

I assume they said that over the phone rather than in writing? If in writing, I'd bet the OFT would like a copy of that with a complaint.
Anyway, glad you got it sorted one way or another.

Hi,
i have just got 2 letters from Scotcall saying i have debt of £186.10 & £185.00 and the creditor is ARROW GLOBAL GUERNSEY LIMITED with no client name on any of them.
From what i have read on this forum it seems that a lot of debt collectors are collecting for ARROW GLOBAL.
I am going to send the letter that is on this forum to find out who the clients are.0 -

Had a call today from Transcom regarding an old debt (dropped off credit report last year). I was busy so they left a message. It was a call to my works number which is surprising as I haven't ever spoke to them or given them the number.
I recently changed credit cards (upgraded from Vanquis! My credit file must be looking better!) so that could be the only place they got my works number from. Is this legal? How could they get my number?0 -
I received a letter from this company last week but as I was busy I left it on the side.
Rang them today and they are chasing a debt that is over 10 years old. Was advised over the phone by their own admission they cannot legally take you to court over any debts but as 'its still owed' they can chase it.
They failed to give any further reasons to me than that.
IF THEY CONTACT YOU. QUESTION IT!!
New to the forums so be nice :rotfl::rotfl:0
