I agree, it would be really helpful.
A skipped button (for comps not working etc) and a not entered button would be ideal, but given the choice just a not entered button would be fine.
I just bookmark comps that don't work or I want to go back to, or subscribe to the thread so I get an e-mail when someone bumps it when it's working again.0 -

Conceptually, is this the sort of thing you're after:
Would you then prefer a "X" in the board list as suggested (like the tick for enter), or something that matched this button more, i.e. the "skipped" symbol ">|"?
We'd naturally provide an "unskip" alternate in case you change your mind.
I'm really happy to have whatever we can get
I quite like the blue skip button that you've mocked up to be on the first post of the thread view & I would prefer the "X" on the forum view of the threads.
This would mean we would have a green tick for ones we've clicked enter, a red cross for ones we've clicked skip & anything that doesn't have a mark at all would be ones still to check out or perhaps to go back to if it wasn't working, needed answers etc
Thanks for listening!Sad because you don't know what to do? Comping question? Take a look in the Comping Guide to find out0 -
thanks for looking at this.
my preference would be X as the sign, but really, whatever works for everyone is fine.0 -
I was just thinking the other day that this would be a good idea.
Love the idea of a skip button. Makes it easier to keep on track on what you have already looked at!
Not too fussed about a symbol but the X would be my choice if I had to choose.0 -
Id love one too. When I enter a comp I thanks and enter. Now I can thanks and skip if I decide I don't want to enter. I'm forever opening the same thread again after realising I've read it before. I like the X view as its the opposite of a tick, but I'm not really bothered what.Current Aims: Laptop/PC, decent money, holiday

Big thanks to all who post comps :T:beer:0 -

The only argument for not using the tick as a skip/enter button I've heard is that people are 'confused' later. What exactly are people confused about?
If I've ticked a thread it either means I've entered or I've skipped it - for either reason I won't open the thread again ...
I think enough of us have already commented explaining exactly why we don't like using the enter button for comps we haven't entered... It's inaccurate for one, I couldn't distinguish between threads I had entered or hadn't entered, there are loads that get bumped and if I've entered I may if I have time go back to see if the wrong answer had been given or if there is a new question in a series - so at the moment if one gets bumped it's a lone green tick in a sea of no ticks but if everything I didn't enter was also ticked then loads of things I didn't want to enter would still get bumped and I'd have to look at those too. There are probably more reasons already given in this thread on the same subject.
Anyway enough of that argument, we've done it to death on the reasons.
Am pleased this is being considered, I'd like the red X, as it's the logical opposite of the green tick. The thread titles being in bold till read doesn't work for me as my pc crashes multiple times a day and I have to reload my browser, it may be fine if someone is on here permanently but then they probably don't need the extra tools as they have time to go in and out of each thread systematically. I am grabbing an hour here and there at the moment so the clearer the screen looks and the more tools we have to show things accurately, the better
I had noticed that recently again the spam site comps are still being posted despite being on the spam list too and I've gone into that a few times again as the thread titles look interesting :mad:0 -

Not that I have seen, as I did say that I had only heard of one complaint that people found it 'confusing'. I really don't think your tone was needed, especially when you went on to answer the question I had asked.Anyway enough of that argument, we've done it to death on the reasons.
I will promptly shut up ... again ... a reacurring theme for me, but only on the subject of competitions ... odd that ...0 -
It won't be in my way, and I could see myself using it quite happily
(ps, really glad to find this section, thank to link on Comps Disscussion, as will start another thread about the possibly of a chat and Questions area, which also keeps popping up)My light may be on, but that doesn't always mean I am looking at the PC - I am far more likely to be cuddling or feeding Tianna atm, so please don't think I am ignoring you if I don't reply quickly

Actually, just seen the other thread on Comps board, and love CornishPastys suggestion, so I've quoted it over here, xxxcornishpasty1 wrote: »if it's not too complicated, the ideal would be tick for done, skip for something you want to go back on later (perhaps ie comp not loading) and X for not interested in :jMy light may be on, but that doesn't always mean I am looking at the PC - I am far more likely to be cuddling or feeding Tianna atm, so please don't think I am ignoring you if I don't reply quickly

I haven't comped in a while but this would have been useful for me, I prefer the red X.0
