good idea..i'm not bothered about what sybol you use as long as we all know when time comes to use it.

I'm happy with the green tick icon at present, one benefit I would see would be if you could apply the green tick icon without having to open up the thread and click the "entered" button - i.e. being able to put a green tick on threads whilst just scrolling through the board.

Not sure if this is how the X would work or whether you would still need to open each thread individually anyway.

I still don't see what's wrong with using the tick to remind you that you've looked at the thread already.

The only argument for not using the tick as a skip/enter button I've heard is that people are 'confused' later. What exactly are people confused about?

If I've ticked a thread it either means I've entered or I've skipped it - for either reason I won't open the thread again ...

On the subject of resources used - I agree it uses resources when people open threads they would not if there was a "skipped" marker against it. But this has to be balanced against the resources used at the point when somebody clicks the "skipped" button, the resources used to store all the data at user level of what is "skipped", and the resources used to retrieve and display the "skipped" markers against the threads in forum view as well as thread view. What is the "entered" tick costing now it has been in use for some time?

Like others who use "New Topic View", I do not need and would never use a "skipped" button, although I can see where "Standard View" and "End Date View" compers might find it useful.

I like the arrow button idea, but Id think it would be better in red and a red arrow on the main page to mark it as skipped

wow the skipped button you have shown looks great and for comp board view a X would be fantastic.

if a comp doesnt load i just leave it unmarked so i can come back to it later however if i come across a comp that i dont want to enter ie. blogs / prizes i have no use for / ipad comp listed by a newbie that is spam / comps that have ended but not been removed from the board yet and comps with a title not specific (various prizes ect...)

Im so excited that we may get this button. :-)
