OK..........! Just read about half of the book and I can see why people like it.

It's not erotic fiction and it's not a brilliant read, the characters aren't rounded, the story is not really a story, but it certainly has something.
For me personally, it's a view (so far), into a vanilla subs mind, who has been offered something she didn't know existed. She fights, she squirms, she doesn't want it, she wants it, all usual in my experience.
The truth is, I'm really really annoyed, I've used many of the things laid out in the book in the past and in the future, (if I ever need to date again) I'm going to be accused of using 50SOG to get ideas.
I can see why it polarises such a debate, if you really don't like this stuff, you don't.
There are some things that stand out as strange, but this is a work of fiction and not real life. Apart from that, it's quite realistic.Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0 -

I've not read it. Are you single? Do you have your own hair/teeth? lol

Like others have said, reading trash is READING and that's what we want people to do. Open their minds to something new.
Ann Rice is reported to be horrid to her fans. I've a friend who attends a lot of Romance Novel Conventions in the States and she's met her. Not a good experience for a reader who spends a lot on books.0 -
A friend of mine has offered to lend all 3 to me but after hearing some really awful reviews of it I don't think I'll bother with reading them.0

I've probably written that they are terrible on here, before I tried one. As I said before, I'm only halfway through the first one, but it's not terrible, it's better than I thought.fashionlover10 wrote: »A friend of mine has offered to lend all 3 to me but after hearing some really awful reviews of it I don't think I'll bother with reading them.
There are some cringe worthy bits in it though, that's for sure, I tend to try not to read those bits.
But, I can see why people think it is terrible, I'm not surprised at all that half the population think it's rubbish and half think it's good. Well, I am a bit, I would expect 75% to think it's rubbish tbh.
If you really don't like the idea of the main "storyline" which is more or less to do with sexual domination, then give it a miss, otherwise it's worth a read, especially if you get them for free.
I'm mainly reading it to see what the fuss is about. :rotfl:Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0 -
Ugh I am fed up of hearing about it in work, I must be the only one in the whole company who isn't interested!0

I'll not be reading it. I like a thriller or a comic chick lit, !!!!!! doesn't do it for me, written or visual.I ave a dodgy H, so sometimes I will sound dead common, on occasion dead stupid and rarely, pig ignorant. Sometimes I may be these things, but I will always blame it on my dodgy H.
Sorry, I'm a bit of a grumble weed today, no offence intended ... well it might be, but I'll be sorry.0 -
