Twlight is a series of books about teenage vampires that was made into a 5 part movie series - the dodgy american tv series you are thinking of is True Blood (which is aimed at adults and not teenagers, brilliant show imo)

Fanfic = fan fiction. The 50 shades of grey is meant to be this persons fantasys about the lead character in Twilight or something. I am not sure.

Ok I am curious to know am I the only one who has not read and has no intention of reading these books ? !
Today in WH smiths 4 people in the space of 5 mins came in looking for the 2nd part. Everyone at work is talking about it and the library has a waiting list of about 70 people.

I have heard that its pretty racy. With that in mind why do people suddenly find it not embarassing to go and ask for this book?!

There are more than one?

No you are not the only one. I'm not planning to read it, ever. Everybody is talking about it and giggling like silly teenage girls! That's enough to put me off!

I also heard it's badly written...

I looked on Amazon at the Kindle editions of Fifty shades , it lets you read a few pages , it seemed very poorly written to me so I shan't bother..

I read somewhere that even the author was suprised it had done so well, as even she though it was poorly written!
Seems like junk to me, but each to their own.

However, if they do get Ryan Gosling for the leading role - I shall be watching!

The people who read it for free online as fan fiction must be thrilled that they avoided having to pay.

The standard of writing suggests it should be free. I can't believe they didn't edit it before sending it out as an actual book.

It's twee, cheesy, tame, repetitive, and generally a bit of a mess.

I read all 3 so I could back up this argument. I'd like the day or two of my life back.

However, if you're on Twitter, follow @50shadesofsh!t (obviously substitute the punctuation!), it's so funny!

I've seen extracts from it and it is atrociously written. It seems that people were completely unaware that there are thousands of erotic novels available and, if you want to read some, there are plenty that are better than this one.

    ??

I've read both (the complete Twilight and 50 shades) and I can't see any relation... Twlight is for teenagers, if you are > 30 you'll probably think: yeah, sure.... love is like that...

I don't think they are brillant books but they kept me entertained for a holiday, which sometimes is the only thing I look for. Personally I'm not interested in the erotic part , but I found the story interesting enought to keep reading. I'm waiting for a friend to finish the 2nd part and lend it to me. :)

They are Twilight fan fiction. They originally even used Mr. Pattison's name, and described him.

Maybe you'll see the connection throughout the second and third books?

Regardless, I can see that people might enjoy them for the content if it's your type of thing. It's just bizarre that something so badly written could become so huge!
