Tesco Value Frozen Mince 1Kg (1.50), its about 70% beef and 30% pork mince. I must admit when I first started cooking this I wasn't impressed but after draining the fat off and adding a stock cube (Value of course) and a little bit of water it actually looked great. I added a tin of Value plum tomatoes (chopped myself, 19p) and a squirt of tomato puree and a good sprinkling of Value mixed herbs (30p I think for the tub) and used some of it for mince pie served with Value veggies. Family thought it was great! So that was 4 portions used for the pie and there's about 10 portions left (and we're talking hungry teenager portions). So not bad for 1.50!!!!CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. I have just (well for about a month now) tried Tesco's value orange squash @ 48p.
In the beginning I was mixing it with water to get the right colour - but discovered that was too strong, and then when I checked the label I realised its ratio was 1:10 so works out very economical and in this hot weather we seem to be going through tonnes.0 -

Hi,
I have tried load of recipes this weekend using tescos value spread around 50p for a kg. which does state on its packet not suitable for home baking. Yet everything I have made has been gobbled down by my hungry family. Perfect quiche, jam tarts, fairy cakes, and home made bread. It makes lovely pastry when you use the value flour also and a splash of water. I can save a bit of money now as I know that I dont need to buy the specific cooking fats! It's the start of the no takeaway challenge.0
