well bit the bullet today and bought the sainsburys basics shampoo and conditioner. im amazed to say tht after using these prods my hair feels soft and bouncy. the only thing i did note is tht u need to use a fair bit of shampoo to get a proper lather going and its impossible to hold the bottle with wet hands. so iv bought a couple of cheap soap dispensers and filled them up with the shampoo/conditioner. much much easier to use..thanks skint catt!!!0 -
ok this is where i get confused i have never brought anything thats is 2stripe whatevermejiggy and would like to know if they taste the same as normal brand foods i must admit im not a food snob and will eat anything but dh is a brand snob and wont touch anything thats not because he thinks it wont taste as nice however i am fed up with spend stupid amounts on our food shopping when we could practically half it if we brought basics brands so i need your help on whether to risk the ear bashing over brand vs basic range because i know he will put up a fight.
thanks

Hi pretz,
There's an older thread that should help so I'll add your post to it.
It's also worth looking at Martin's article on Supermarket Shopping where you'll get lots of advice on cutting back on grocery shopping and some links to articles he's written about own brand goods.

I've not read the whole thread so I'm sorry if this is repeated, but in regard to value/own brand baked beans, simply add 1-2 tablespoons (depending on personal taste) of Tomato ketchup (own brand of course) before cooking. They taste brilliant.[SIZE=-1]To equate judgement and wisdom with occupation is at best . . . insulting.

I use sainsburys own brand nappies (not basic) which are currently 1/3 off until tuesday. I would only use pampers with my first child but decided a few weeks ago to try the own brand ones. They are great. No leaks yet, even overnight. I could kick myself for wasting so much money over the last couple of years.0

Sainsbury's Ground Coffee for the cafetiere at 79p. Just as good as anything you can buy for around £2.00 or more.0

Tescos and Sainsburys value jaffa cakes are even nicer that the branded ones in my opinion and only half the price.0

I used Asda value nappies for my boys (2 and 3 year) old till they were nappy trained. There were a few occasions where they leaked during night but otherwise I thought they were great. I wish I used them from the start instead of expensive Pampers/Huggies. My neighbour who got 1yr old twins swears by Lidle's own brand nappies.0
