Lidl preserves are lovely, maybe not the lower sugar ones... though these are OK on plain yoghurt. wmf is right about the raspberry, but apricot is good too and very reasonable, good size jars, also Aldi jams nice.

Sainsburys Basics - Smoked Salmon Trimmings - avoid. Not your usual slivers or strips just a pile of mush

I got the value bourbon biccies this week and think they are lovely also I do get the value dishwasher tablets and I find they work really well (I even cut them in half sometimes as mine is a slimline dishwasher) I do baby bottles in there as well and they come out fine...

I too notice that sometimes Tesco Value stuff isn't much of a saving, like butter/orange juice and they do a value cheesecake (which is apparantly gorgeous) but isn't that cheap

Toilet cleaner and loo roll. Toilet cleaner is toilet cleaner. We need to use flimsy loo roll in our 2nd floor bathroom, it's kinder to the macerator and it works better. Am working the odd roll into the rest of the house as well! I figure I might change to the flimsy stuff completely if there is no comment!

Has anyone tried the Value Sweet n Sour tin? I'm thinking of doing sweet n sour pork - already have the meat and rice so this would be cheap as chips!

    Thanks

I was just wondering what value range items people have tried and didn't like?

Pasta - had a strange taste
Baked beans - tasted OK but a lot of runny sauce and fewer beans
Rubber gloves - fingers stuck together after only using a few times!

Can't think of anything else at the moment so I suppose that's not bad!
  • I haven't got time to read them all. Going to my dance class shortly, but i bought sainsburys basic roll on deodrant 32p last week. Highly recommended. Just as good as sure or mum. Also my sister loves the sainsburys jar of basic curry sauce 4p. Says it's very nice poured over chips. Not very healthy though.
