What a really useful thread. Thanks all:T

We love Lurpak Spreadable in the Lighter version. Do any of the Supermarkets do an own brand/value version that tastes anything like Lurpak?

I know this is an old post, but I'll reply anyway just in case you're still looking - I like Sainsbury's Lurpak Lighter-type spread and I'm really fussy - I can sniff out margarine at ten paces!:rotfl:

I hate cheap marg too. One thing I don't mind forking out extra for is a decent pat of butter.

I'm currently trying Aldi's version of special K with berries. It's less sweet and there seem to be larger flakes, with the same propportion of freeze-dried fruit.

The good news is it's only £1.59, Tesco version £1.68, Kelloggs £2.68.
There's less sugar, fat and salt and more vitamins than Kelloggs. Haven't tried Tesco's yet. (375g box)

For those red bull type energy drinks Lidl's do one which is 24p a can.

Might try that Asda's own red berries one, I like the Kelloggs one but it's expensive.
One day I might be more organised...........

Tesco Value Tinned Tomatoes (wouldn't bother with Morrisons' ones though as I've never had a can that doesn't have stalks in the)

Tesco Value Packet Instant Noodles - All three flavours are OK and only 9p/pack

Tesco Value Pot Noodle - Hubby prefers the Curry one to proper Pot Noodle as he says it taste of more

Tesco Value Fresh Veg/Fruit - only real difference is some of the items might not be the usual supermarket picture perfect shape

Don't buy value washing up liquid - shower gel - panty liners - shampoo and conditioner or loo roll.

All hideous and not worth the money - sometimes it is worth spending an extra 50p to get better quality.

I foung all the above I just didn't use and so wated money. Oh and the washing powder is horrible aswell.

  • We love parsnip soup in the winter (especially at Christmas time :xmassmile) so when I make it I tend to cook a great big pot of it and freeze it - and Tesco Value parsnips are tip top for this :) Ditto Tesco Value carrots for carrot+coriander and lentil+carrot. I find Tesco Value bags of potatoes keep better than their ordinary ones. The Value bags of aubergines were great too, but haven't seen them for aaaaages

Boots Basics hand cream is brilliant - can't remember the price but it was well cheap (40p 'ish?) and makes your hands beautifully soft without the greasiness you often get with hand creams. Use their Basics cotton wool stuff too, top stuff
