Tried value gravy granules today. They are 39p and the next choice up is 89p so it's quite a big saving. They were OK but not as nice as the next ones up IMO.

I see this was a tip in this weeks email, go for your ordinary brand then try the one below, if its as nice then your quids in, if not, then not alot lost, just try somthing else next time :money:

Another Asda item I've tried - Blue Charge caffeine drink.
Currently 24p per 100ml can (which makes it 5p cheaper than the almost identical Emerge drink), it contains 2mg less caffeine per 100ml than Red Bull, but still tastes about the same and works in much the same way (the ingredients list appears to be the same!)

Tesco Value potato salad is great at 25p per carton. Also agree re porridge oats and dark chocolate!

Today I've had tesco value pasta in tomato and onion sauce. I mixed some plain value pasta in with it to make it go further and added some value tuna fish and served it up with value pitta breads. Fed a family of 1 adult and 2 children for about £1.10.

Lidl 'Frosties' are nice - called Flakers Sugar. Sweetness between Frosties and ordinary corn flakes.

we recently bought some Asda Smart Price Fruit n Fibre and it was really nice. 66p. Bargain!!! We like the smart price curry cook in sauce too and it's just been rolled back to 15p!!! Tried the bolognaise sauce once and didn't like it, but I make my own now. Asda smart price sweet and sour sauce to me tastes nicer than the tesco one. I've tried the value mince but it seemed to turn into mush in the pan, use the Asda brand one now doesn't cost much more and looks like proper mince while it's cooking and tastes nicer too!!

Somerfield Simply Value biscuits - their milk chocolate digestives aren't quite as good as McVities but just as addictive - and the Bourbon & Custard Creams look different but taste exactly the same as the branded versions.

They are 99p (used to be 89p) for a 500g box. I find them to taste quite stale, personally. It's generally better value to buy a 750g box for £1.29 in sainsbury's or tesco.
