Not really a value brand I know but I like Tesco Finest seeded batch (and oat batch) bread- at c85p it is a big saving on the Warburtons seeded batch loaf (which is also yummy but considerably more expensive!!). It lasts a week without going rock hard too.0

Tesco Value After Eight equivelents are lovely... they have more dark chocolate on them, and more minty filling in them too... and a bargain at only .78p. take them out of the box, which is a dead giveaway of course, and they look great on a plate for guests etc...0

Asda Value Oven or Fry chips - nice chunky chips, no more fat than the regular product (as far as I can see) and half the price.
Asda Chopped Tomatoes - great for pasta sauces
Asda Value apples
Asda Choccy Wafers and Digestive bars - loads cheaper and I can't taste any difference from the more expensive branded versions!
Not in the Value range, but Asda own brand chocolate bars are excellent - a decent cocoa content and a lot cheaper than the Dairy Milk equivalents! (If I recall correctly, the Asda choccy is made in Germany, so it's More like European chocolate than the stuff produced here!)
Value range pot noodle style things - OK, so Pot Noodles are not that brilliant in the first place, but I get them for lunch at work in the winter and they are acceptable (the Spicy Curry and Chicken and Mushroom are better than the Beef and Tomato) 24p a tub - about a quarter of the branded equivalent, and half the price of the non-value Asda own brand!

Tescos value Fish & chips"And suddenly I find myself listening to a man I've never known before,Telling me about the sea..."0

We've tried lots of Tesco Value things and liked mostly everything except the cornflakes and rice crispies. I had to make chocolate crispies to use them up so now my husband wants me to buy more value ones..... Oh and the gravy powder which I mix half and half with a better quality one (bought on BOGOF) which makes it more palatable. I'm not keen on the cheapest teabags which seem to be mainly powder and dust but am happy with the next price band up. But in the summer I drink mainly water anyway and that is cheaper still.

Not value but about the same price, Home Bargains do much cheaper medication inc easier to swallow paracetamol etc.
Also some brand named products in there I have found as cheap as value ones. Well worth a look if you have one nearby. One day I might be more organised...........
GC: £200
Slinkies target 2018 - another 70lb off (half way to what the NHS says) so far 25lb0 -
I know that tesco value hamster food is considerably more expensive than most hamster food you can buy elsewhere (Wilkos etc).
Ditto sawdust!0 -
Just quickly read through this so sorry if I duplicate anything.
Kidney beans, if you want to soften them put a spoonful of sugar in them when they cook ..not PC I know but it replaces what is taken out when they are dried and put in brine or whatever.
Tesco sparkling value water put with any value juice seems to lift it (especially if left in the fridge so cold when added) and kids like it cos its fizzy!! If you want to tart it up add a slice of whatever fruit you have thats going a bit dry.
Or the value raspberrys just take a few out of the box and put them into water into an ice cube tray and drop them into fizzy water. Works for most fruit apart from strawberries. Also look nice in cocktails to jazz them up a bit!0 -
It's not value, but Tesco's own cocoa has a disgusting smokey taste - not sure it'll even be nice in baking!
I normally buy Rowntrees (direct from Nestle when poss), but I'd run out so made do with this and wishing I hadn't.......
Don't like drinking chocolate is much too sweet :eek:0 -
Sainsburys Basics cider is really nice, only about £1.37 for 2-litres, and it tastes very fresh and fruity, and not at all chemically, as some own brand ciders do. You can really taste the apples. It's a bit lower ABV than Stongbow (my usual tipple) but absolutely no ill-effects the next morning either, unlike other cheapies I have tried.
I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe
