Sainsburys value Bananas are good they seem to last longer than Tescos version and are only 98p for 8
And Tesco and Sainsburys value chocolate digestives are good tooMummy to two beautiful girls and one gorgeous boy.0 -
I always buy the dried red kidney beans in a packet for around 70p then soak overnight and cook etc as I need them. They last ages and I reckon you get around 10-15 cans worth per bag as they swell overnight when you soak then. Does anybody else buy these?
Great money saving idea thanks for the tipMummy to two beautiful girls and one gorgeous boy.0 -
Hi everyone.
If any of you stock up on Sainsburys own brands do wait until the 27th April to stock up. On that day Sainsburys are giving away bags for Life for FREE. So you get some freebie bags for life, save some money, plus next time you are shopping anywhere use these Bags For Life and you will also be helping the environment. Sorry if this has been posted before. But let's all do our bit and use any bags we get time and time again. It's only a small step but one worth taking to help ours and our children's enviroment.YOU LOOK ANNOYED....CLICK YOUR PEN

12 pack of basics loo roll has gone down to £1.13. 4 pack is still 40p. Last week it was cheaper to buy 3 of the 4 packs. They are just trying to catch us out
//Edit
Oh and theres a new product...Basics crackers of some sort. Damn, forget the exact name. 49p I think they were. I'm not sure what they are meant to be though? Like jacobs crackers? or those snack things? They don't seem to compare in price with Jacobs, so I'm not sure.0 -

Tesco Value tinned chopped tomatoes and tinned kidney beans are always a good buy, as are their porridge oats and chocolate chip cookies!
I agree on the kidney beans, couldnt tell any difference between them and the more expensive ones at all.
Sweetcorn is good too. I have tried Sainsburys and Tesco at 17 opr 19 p cant beat it.
I blend it add some herbs and use it for soup and it doesnt have all those added things they put in soups. Not being able to take dairy products this is a boon.:j0 -
I regularly buy:
butter, tomatoes, tuna, porridge oats, kitchen paper, foil, biscuits [we don't eat many], after 8 mints, choc/toffees, tortillas, peppers, bananas, apples [depends on what they are], mini sweetcorn, noodles [don't use the sauce], tea cakes, mini pancakes, fromage frais, water [use it for ironing after a tip from here], oj, smoked salmon trimmings if they look ok. Don't buy value meat, eggs cheese etc.
Found the washing up liquid, apple pies [a one off experiment] and tea to be hideous nor was the cereal terribly lovely. I often buy these things just to try them the once. You never know you may be pleasantly surprised!

Asda smart price facial wipes are great - for removing stains!! From carpets, clothes...in the car etc. At 23p for a big pack, they are good value - I have a pack in every room incase something gets tipped over. Got tomato juice out of my beige carpet....god only knows what they do to the skin on your face?0

Oh...and I buy Asda value pizza, with a pack of smart price cheese and smart price ham (there is one that is lovely, smoked ham or peperoni) and make my own really cheap and tasty pizza for when the OS pals come round - as they eat it in two gulps and don't even notice the difference.0

We've just eaten a can of Bettabuy red kidney beans that I bought from Morrisons. They tasted fine and the can was full but they were really hard. Not something I'd buy again.0

Wow, what a fantastic thread, I must admit I do try and buy some of the value products and must admit some of them (in my opinion) are beeter than the more expensive brands!! I love the Asda sp baked beans and the tomato ketchup, i always buy the cheam yogurts for my husband, can't say what they are like though as I hate yoghurt, but I have had no complaints, and when I have bought him more expensive ones there has been no feedback, so no point.
I also do a lot of my fruit nd veg shopping in LIDL, they always have a good range on specail off (usually half price) and it is good quality and fresh.
I love LIDL jam as well, it is so much fruitier than most other brands, and for the price, well it can't be beaten.
Asa for cereal, I must admit I am a bit of a kellogs girl, but whilst in the supermarket the other day (LIDL) I picked up some tropical crunh, a which is a mix of cornflakes, yoghurt pieces and small pieces of dried fruit, it is rather yummy, but a little too sweet.
I swear by ASDA SP frozen frying chips, when we do have chips, these are the ones I go for they are fantastic, no scabby ones or little bits, just fry until light golden brown and they are delicious!!! In fact I have noticed that quite a few take aways use the round here as well!!!
Anyway, I am going to go and munch some tropical crunch now.
