*cough* I ended up in a charity shop...and did the 'if it looks 25% OK on the hanger and it 'might' fit try it on'
£8 later I have a very cute little ruched red/coral top (I just need a man to wear it for! Haha!) and a black knee length pencil skirt for work! Yay!
Had a very good day! Thanks to you guys on here..or I would not have been inspired! :0)0 -
Oopsie! Sorry Squeaky! I couldn't find them!
I did try a couple of searches and paged through a few but it seems to bring up ext within the posts rather than the thread title - although I'm quite new here so I may well be doing it wrong!
Not a problem
If you take a look at the stickies at the top of the forum thread list there's one that gives step by step help on how to make the best of searches here.

Has anyone else noticed price fluctuations with Tesco Value brand stuff?
I was getting a few things at Tesco this morning and after trying their value shower gel last month I was going to get more. I can't find my receipt from last time but I am certain it was 18p. It was 30p today. I know it's only pennies and still cheaper than all the others but this is quite a price hike in the space of a fortnight.
I had also previously bought the value hand wash which I think was 20p but is 38p today.
Wish i'd seen the post about the value baby wash before I went.0 -
Tesco value facial wipes - I have eczema prone skin so have to be careful and these are great on my skin. They're 28p per pack of 25 and don't have that funny stale smell that some wipes have - I keep a pack in the car, a pack in my bag and a pack in just about every room of the house!I believe in the freedom of spinach and the right to arm bears.

Not Mr S feta cheese - packet expands in correct-temp-fridge until it threatens to burst.
Mr S dips, mozarella, peanut butter all basics.
Mr T vanilla slices, coleslaw, stilton, all value. Please do not confuse me with other gratefulsforhelp. x0 -
This thread inspired me to go and do a value shop today! I bought baby shampoo (for handwash) at 9p, hair conditioner at 24p, ready salted crisps 68p, butter £1.21, custard powder 6p, SR flour 52p, nappy bags 27p!! (to use as sanitary disposal bags, I was paying a lot more for the ones displayed with tampons and sanitary towels!) and caramel wafers 40p.
Also bought a huge bottle of tea tree shampoo for 59p, I'd forgotten how much I like that stuff to use as body wash.
I've just eaten a bag of the ready salted crisps, they are great and there's no difference at all between them and the main brands, except the bag size is a wee bit smaller and that's not a bad thing for greedy me!
Also just tried a vanilla slice (I won't be able to move in a bit if I keep this up) and they are so gorgeous I doubt I will ever bother buying expensive cream cakes again.
The only thing that doesn't seem to be a lot cheaper is the butter, I was surprised at how much that is now. I have already tried the value fish fingers 60p for 10, they are not as juicy as top brands but they are perfectly fine, I'll be buying those from now on.
Thank you for the inspiration, I'll be doing loads more experimenting with value stuff now! :TI believe in the freedom of spinach and the right to arm bears.

Tesco Value toilet cleaner is fab, you don't need a lot and it works better than the duck one! For only 30p I'm a convert.CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. You can enjoy it even if you don't understand it and too much can give you a headache the next day J0

Hi
Asda Smart Price cheese and onion pasty was ok but not very chessey (3% cheese whereas the standard one has 11%).
Smartprice/value plain flour good for sourdough starter.Sealed Pot Challenge No 089-Finally got a signature.:rotfl::j0 -

If that's the Tesco ones you mean I think they are fine. They are 18g a packet (nearly half a 'standard' packet - I remember when a standard packet was 25g though!) so are ideal for a packed lunch. My DH is always complaining when I buy the value crisps, but at 71p for 12 packs it's much cheaper than the next one up which is £3.40ish for 20 x 25g. He's going to have to lump it :rotfl:0 -
I also went back and did a 'Value' shop at Tesco & Morrisons today ( over my monthly budget I know but it is an experiment in the name of science.....)
From Tesco I bought
VALUE TEA BAGS, 27p - tried them out earlier and yes, I could taste a difference but not so much that I wouldn't drink it. So they will be bought again.
'DAISY' DISHWASHER TABS. £2.00 for 40. Worked out at 5p per tab which was cheaper than Value brand today. But will try Value brand if/when Daisy ones go back up in price.
VALUE BABY BATH & BABY SHAMPOO, 9p each. I have filled up old hand pumps and shower gel bottles. Works perfectly for hand soap. Will buy again. I haven't tried the shampoo yet but will get a verdict from kids and OH later.
From Morrisons I bought -
VALUE PASTA TWISTS, 17p FOR 500G & SPAGHETTI, 20p FOR 500G. - I have used these for a while and can taste no difference whatsoever. Tesco Value equivalents are currently 40p each.
VALUE BIOLOGICAL WASHING POWDER, £1.68 for 30 washes & FABRIC CONDITIONER, 45p for 1litre (28 washes). I have done 3 loads of washing this afternoon, using the minimum recommended dose for light soiling. ( I always use 1/2 recommended fabric softener dose so should get up to 56 washes). Some of the kids clothes had blood and grass stains on and they have been washed out. There is not such as strong perfume as some of the branded products, but surely that has to be better for skin. I will be using these from now on.
VALUE TABLE SALT, 23p for 1kg. Salt is salt!
VALUE CUSTARD POWDER, 6p. I haven't tried this yet but plan to make it up with milk, as recommended by another MSE member. I will update once tried.
VALUE TOILET CLEANER, 27p - tried earlier and works perfectly well. I will buy again.0
