Probably already mentioned, but Tesco Value oven chips are the nicest we've had. Much cheaper and less hassle than making your own from scratch too!

Another vote for Sainsbury's Basics tea bags. I bought them after reading about them in this thread, and my DH is very happy with them.

    They are Fairtrade, too.

I don't have a baby, so can't comment for baby use but I have bought Sainsbury's Basics Baby Bath 500m (half price at 5p at the mo) and basics Baby Shampoo 8p for 500ml (again half price). I have used the shampoo myself and it is fine and am using the baby bath as a refill in my hand soap dispenser and again it does the job!

Edit to say I am new here, so apologies if this is old news.

Any brand of value nappy sacks - for poop scoops for pet owners.

And another vote for Sainsbugs teabags

Bought pack of 50 nappy sacs for doggy poop in Sainsbury's too. Half price again, so 9p. Thanks for reminding me Lizzy.

I love Mr @sdas smart price baked beans!!! They taste as good as if not better than the leading brand

I really like Waitrose value beans (35p a can) - they're actually nicer than Heinz

I'm trying to save pennies so decided to buy value stuff and see whether it was any good.
Basics Pollock fingers were lovely (as above)
Basics milk choc digestives are scrummy
Basics milk chocolate is fab and less than 40p!
Shame about the basics carrots - you get a big bag for 80p but there are lots of half carrots and tiny weeny nonsense ones, but the worst is they went bendy very quickly. Not a bad buy per see as long as you use them up in the first couple of days becuase by the end of the week, rubber carrots...

i find that with the value carrots, too... loads of halves that you end up cutting to death and get only about one inch that's usable and quite a few that have cuts on the ends as though they've been attacked with a stanley knife.... good enough for making carrot and lentil soup with though!!!!!!!

One to avoid - Tesco value *rice crispies*; even the hens wouldn't eat them.

I agree with this! The krispies were un-edible in my opinion. I do like the value weetabix though but the pack size has just been reduced from 36 biscuits to 24 but the price has only gone down from 75p to 68p.

I also use value nappies, nappy bags and wet wipes. My boys have never had nappy rash or any leaks so they do the job well. The wipes are very wet too so can clean the bums properly.
