Al chunks seem to go down OK with my lot - don't like the stuff personally although I do have to do the sandwiches.... Appears pretty similar.

They do a cheaper style think it is flakes that isn't too good loads of bits. I know it gets mashed up the same but it just seems more watery.

Thanks, I shall get a tin then and try it. I already buy quite a lot of stuff there so will get some next time I am there

Aldi - Peanut butter, Stuff in glass jars used to be about 60% of the cost of the one in plastic but tastes pretty much the same. The teens are happy with it too so must be OK.

They have now reduced the glass jar size but kept the price so not quite so cheap still worth a punt IMO

  • Not strictly a 'value' product, but it's one of Tesco's discount brands and at 20p for 500g deserves a mention.

Trattoria Verdi tomato herb pasta sauce. We like the taste and there's enough in a jar to serve 3-4 people when stirred into pasta.

I'm going to try it mixed with pasta, tuna and topped with cheese and baked in the oven. Should make for a good cheap meal. Could also be used as pizza topping.
