Basics/Value Chocolate is very yummy, I buy the cheapest possible, beans/spaghetti etc. Pasta and Rice are also fab at the prices.
I buy the cheap AP cleaners ( about 27p ) brill for the floors, and general cleaning.
I wouldnt buy the cheapy meats/ cooked meats / anything with meat in, nor eggs, simply because of the animal welfareKent Bird!:beer:0 -
That "Daisy" washing up liquid from Tescos is brill - one bottle lasted about 3 months - and it seemed to be identical to Fairy.
Not sure if the Daisy line is all good, it seems to have replaced a lot of their value range.:happylove0 -

It's probably paying the price in terms of animal welfare, which is why I'd never buy any "animal-derived" products from value ranges.
I'll add this to the exisitng thread on what to buy in value ranges later

I think that one has to be careful when making these judgements about the "value" ranges. There isn't a special "value" kind of animal husbandry, it's the same as the usual kind (ie non higher welfare freedom foods/organic farming kind). If someone is happy to purchase the normal range, then the value range is unlikely to be especially harsh on the animals if you see what I mean. Take value eggs for example - the chickens are just plain battery - not a special more cruel kind of battery chicken, so if battery eggs are acceptable to you, buying value eggs should be too.
I'm not saying we should all just accept the intensive farming practises as ok, but unless you are going out of your way to find better welfare meat/eggs then value is just as acceptable as the rest.
It's only a game

I agree PP, only buy British pork after seeing that Jamie Oliver programme, no matter how cheap I see it in the supermarket.
.
I noticed Waitrose are selling 99p sausages as part of their value range. I think it said it was outdoor reared pork. Has anyone tried these yet?weaving through the chaos...0 -
I buy mostly Sainsburys basics, including some meat (only British), but never chicken.
I don't buy Value cleaning products any more, since I got all environment conscious. I only use stardrops, white vineagar and t tree oil now.:jMummy to 2 small 4 year old bundles of mischief!:j0 -

I've recently taken to buying Sainsburys Basics gammon joints to make my own ham, using a variety of coatings (honey and mustard, jerk seasoning etc) for sandwiches. Bit of time and effort needed, especially since my carving's haphazard so thick slices for me, but results are tasty and a lot cheaper than buying pre-packed premium ham."Who throws a shoe, honestly?"

I usually buy most of my value stuff from Tesco (despite mainly shopping in Asda) and have found these products to be really good quality:
Value mixed dried fruit (buy this ALOT!)
Value penne pasta (pasta is pasta, why pay more?!)
Value tinned toms
Value butter (Asda dont seem to do a SP butter)
All kinds of value tinned veg
...Come to think of it, I buy value most things0 -
