Did you get that offer by calling retentions or customer service?
  • I just phoned customer services and told them I wanted to leave.

Why do you think its good?

To get the deals people are quoting do you have to get to the point when you say "please cancel my contract" and then they offer you a great deal? I have tried to negotiate but I keep getting the same deal I was originally quoted :-

£32 for xl TV, talk unlimited, 2mb BB and now an extra £7 not £6 for 4mb BB so the price has gone up!

You will get no-where with the sales section. (I tried myself this week). However get thru to retentions just mention that you are thinking of moving to Sky (or similar) and say can you do me a better deal. Thats all I did, had a lovely chat with the girl on the end of the line and saved myself an extra £10pm (on top of the £9 discount I already have on my bill).

Ta for the replies, but I did phone retentions and told them I was leaving, I even cancelled my direct debit (which they new about on their computer) to show I meant it when i said I was leaving. They instantly offered a much better deal but when I pushed for an even better deal I was told that was the best they could do. I wanted to get them to "throw in" the 4mb BB for the price of the 2mb but they just wouldn't budge, so I ended saying I would think about it.

Spudgunner - Did you pay installation cost of V+? and your phone is that 24/7 unlimited?

I am going to try again and if they won't play ball then tell them flat to cancel my contract and see what happens......... I can always eat humble pie and change my mind! lol
  • Phone is just talk weekends as dont really use it much. Do have to pay installation fee of £75 but they let me add it on to next mths bill and I have just applied for a Virgin credit card and been accepted and that gives me £40 back off my Virgin bill so in effect install is only costing £35!

Got a letter of confirmation today although some details wrong. phoned them to confirm and my package is right, just the letter wrong, although the guy at the end of the phone was insisting that it would only cost me £27 not the £37 I had been told for V+, XL TV, L Broadband and talk weekends!!

    We will see....

At £22 it is just a standard deal as on the VM website

If you have a cable phone line you can just dial 150 for free (or 0800 073 0399 from non-VM line, don't know however if this is still an xTelewest number) and select option 3, then option 2, then option 2.

You could try: 0800 052 0184 which SayNoTo0870 have listed for retentions, however don't know if it connects to the xNTL side or xTelewest side or if the systems have all finally been integrated.
It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!
