    Are people assuming that the prom dress etc. is just bought for the prom? For many girls I know their dress and shoes have been their birthday and christmas presents in year 11. It's the same with trips abroad - my son goes to Germany with school for his birthday AND christmas present ... that's it, he gets nothing else all year but he thinks it's worth it. And his spending money is his birthday and christmas presents off family. He literally gets nothing else.

    I trust that was aimed at me? I know my limitations, have a dictionary on my desk at work, and regularly use it. As a result, there are no spelling mistakes in anything I write when it matters.

    It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
    Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
    If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
    If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
    If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.

    the one my daughter had was really nice, just plain white on the outside and black leather and "mood lighting" on the inside. There was a bar in the so they could have as many soft drinks as they wanted and it meant that all 8 of them could go to prom together and have a bit of a party before prom and on the way home afterwards. Their driver was lovely and took them on the scenic route so they got their money's worth out of it.

    It was just a bit of fun.

    They're 16, they're allowed to be tacky!

    At my leaver's ball there were kids from the 'rival' school egging all the limos. That really added to the class of the occasion.

    They're just playing dress up, I don't think its the downfall of society. Most of the girls round here seem to get their dresses from TK Maxx.

    I was actually a bit jealous, I've never been in anything like that, I think the poshest car I've ever been in my my FIL skoda octavia :o:o:o

    Me and H had a stretch limo to take us to hotel on our wedding night. It was a freebie via a company he did work with. Came with a VERY large bottle of champagne :D bit of fun, completely tacky but free :money:
