TBH i would wait for GS inspection they will only make him do any gas related issues however they will also take into account the standard of his workmanship & while this may not help you to get over your harrowing experience it may help someone else in the future, if you read the link that CH sent you on the gas safe site, they can only act on things they see so if you get the installer back before then it will be a complete waste of their time coming round, from what you have said & the pictures you have posted it doesn't look like you have any immediately dangerious probs, he has done a very shoddy job & should be pulled over the coals for it but that can only happen from a professional company like gas safe or trading standards or he will carry on doing the same thing to other customers & the next time he may do something that kills someone.
I'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.

Anyone, and I mean anyone including posters on here, that have any criticism of GAS SAFE and what they do, in my opinion, probably has something to worry about themselves!

If they wernt chasing cowboys who are registered, they might have time for other businesss!

Digressing slightly but Corgi and its successor, Gas Safe were born out of the de nationalisation of the mighty British Gas Corporation.

It was the BGC who first set up and funded CORGI after the Ronan point explosion in 1969 as a body to promote gas safety. There was no legal requirement to be registered at that point.

    Why..?

Because the BGC had a virtual monopoly on most gas engineering works AND because almost all Gas Engineers where recruited ,trained and produced by the BGC to a very high standard.

When the industry was de nationalised, the flood gates opened and the powers that be decided that there should be compulsory registration from 1991.

Corgi duties were later taken up by Captia aka Gas Safe Register.

It is worth noting that being on the GSR is not a guarantee of quality of workmanship and/or safety.
Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..

There is always the anti british gas comment on every thread..........did you apply for a job and get rejected?

Anyway, the rust on the gas pipe is actually AT RISK, the green is just flux residue and CAN be cleaned. The actual rust tho makes me think its pipe that been on top of the van for a while and will pin hole eventually.

The magnaclean is in a brilliant position to clean in the future and as said has made access to the top of the heat exchanger difficult.

Earth clamp is in the wrong position

Those cables should not be running over the boiler case

As someone has already said the sleeve has not been sealed

There isnt much wrong in terms of gas regs to be fair but the workmanship is poor, which gas safe wont be interested in. You will find that they want the section of gas pipe with the rust on replaced and thats about it. He will get marked down for not leaving correct paperwork.
The MEB on the gas pipe was already there before he fitted the new boiler?

Is the boiler in a compartment? If so there is no compartment label either

ermm, since when does copper rust?

The OP has never had BG in to look at this.

Well you can see your self that there is RUST on the outside of the pipe so its not copper thats come straight from the merchant. There is something going on with that pipe.

I know the OP hasnt had BG round but there has already been an anti BG post towards the beginning when someone was talking about the gas pipe being outside

    Thanks everyone.

So from what your saying I should get him back here to sort his shoddy work out now then?

    This was the first photo

Its odd, it does look like rust or something strange?
Yes please Keith would be VERY interested to know what Gas Safe think of the installation please.

I think everyone who has contributed to this post agrees that you have been subject to very shoddy workmanship.

    That is not in question.

I do not know where this corrosion has come from, but copper does not rust. AFAIK it is chemically impossible.

Your pipe work looks as if it has been painted to me, perhaps it is a chemical reaction to whatever has been used to coat it?

I do not know from here.

If one wants to be really picky, the wire, which I assume to be an aerial or satellite cable, should not be within 25mm of the gas pipe.
