He sounds about as good as the installer..
Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..

    Hi.

I would agree, not very impressed.

No mention of the ME bond?

Whereabouts in the UK are you, in order for us to avoid meeting this so called inspector?

Apologies. Yes he said the electric cable should be moved but suggested my husband do it (we think that the RGI didnt do it, as the gas pipes recently changed outside so National Grid did that-well thats what GSR said)

He even said the installer "did a good enough job" and overall "only a few minor quibbles"

    Hi.

If your installer was the last man on the job it would be down to him to move the ME bond to comply with regs. (Did they seriously suggest your OH move the bond?)

In light of all the things you say the installer has done/not done I would say he fell well short 'a good enough job'

Even less impressed with Gas Safe now.

I do feel quite unhappy with the Gas Safe man. I really did expect more. He never even mentioned (OR LOOKED AT) the magna filter until I mentioned it and is it too tight to service? He said also my husband could clean the magna filter thing and could make a special hose piece to fit on it.

Yes he did say my husband should move the electrical wire "its only a 5 min job" - not even going to register in his report from what he said as he expects my hubbie to do it!!!!

He was not bothered about the pipe outside at all - the pitted/rust bit he said was merely "flux" or maybe water leaked from outlet things from loft which are above it, but no its not leaked. He rubbed it and again "wire wool"

I am completely underwhelmed by it all - expected so much more from Gas Safe.

He made a few scribbled notes and is going to email me the report

As for the Magna filter, Gas safe would not be interested in this at all.

They are only there to inspect the gas side of things.

So you obviously have nothing dangerous to worry about, it's just that the job just looks a right pigs ear!

From my point of view, I find it encouraging that Gas Safe have took the sensible approach to this survey, rather than making themselves look right pricks picking out insignificant faults.

The job is safe, so you can stop worrying about that side of it.

The way it looks, well that's a completely different story.

i have to disagree with you, while the install may not be un-safe, we all do or should do sign upto gas safe to put ourselves above the illegal & cowboy installers out there, to provide the customer with a safe & well done job, the standard of the OP install was terrible & the installer should have been wrapped over the knuckles for it,

we are constantly being bombared by messages of don't use an illegal installer, make sure you see the card, i have been fitting boilers for 30 years but as i haven't done my CPA1 (i'm doing the acs refresh core & elements next wk & wasn't gonna spend £250 for something that from april was free with the core) i'm now an illegal boiler installer, even though i use an analiser nearly every day (my collegue has already got the CPA1 so he can fit & register boilers but he doesn't have an analiser, how the hell does that work). This refresher course means 4 days off work & £958 on top of the normal cost to be registered & sometimes i really wonder if it's worth it when the people you turn to if there is a problem couldn't give a toss.

as gas safe are the currant leading light in this country they should be trying to improve the standards of work not have the slipperly shoulder approach.

What gets on my nerves about the Gas Safe man yesterday he made it seem like I was being a moaner, when in fact the job looks truly awful. He kept saying it was a good job - I mean come on!
