The report is ridiculous. I didnt comment earlier as had to go to work. GSR are ridiculous. His only defect therefore is the sleeving...everything else is ok. He didnt even give a defect notice for the awful pipework and flux or rust etc. It appears to be some sort of advisory.0

Having read this , i feel for other certified GSR installers who do take pride in their work and do a great job , day after day , under all the regs , and who have to take regular courses exams to keep certified to work !!!0

Gas Safe's remit is to make sure gas work is done safely and to current regs/standards.
It is not in their remit to say whether a job looks good or bad.
I, and many others, have attended and sat at the table with the Gas Safe bosses to make sure that they only look at the gas safety side.
I am pleased at his attitude, not the bit where he states it was a good job though, that is not his place to say that.
If the OP is not happy with the quality, then more appropriate avenues should be sort for recompense or remedial work, such as trading standards etc.
We concur..Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0 -
Well it is nice to know that so long as it is "Safe" they don't care their members are doing a sh!te job.
If you don't hold your members to good installation standards and practices then don't be surprised when people end up going for the cheapest cowboys they can find.
They arent really members. They are not there by invitation. GSR is simply the appointed registration body for a "class of persons" as required in GSIUR and as such, they are nothing much more than an exclusive directory which you can join by going to a training centre and paying some money.
I think the OP needs a solicitor rather than GSR..but only if he feels its worth pursuing and throwing more good money after bad.
This is what happens in modern Britain where anyone carrying a toolbag is seen as an untrustworthy underling.Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). I've just done my re-assessments this wk (we have to do them every 5 years), 4 days at the training center & £948, so not exactly a breeze, I have today emailed gas safe with the link to this thread & asked them to pass it on to the area inspector or hopefully above, so we will see if anything comes of it.I'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.
You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.0 -

Is that one of those clubs like checkatrade or rated people ?
Emmm interesting, maybe I'm missing something but 1st maybe you can tell me how you can comment on exams that you haven't taken so know nothing about (at least recently) ?, secondly how can you be a member of a group called gas engineers when you can't legally touch gas ? That's like me calling myself a life guard & not being able to swim ?
If nothing else your comment did make me laugh so thanks for that.I'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.
