All the silly status updates about it on Facebook have put me off reading any of them, i'm bored with it now and i haven't even seen any of the books.0

Someone advise me of a decent SM fiction novel then?
It's for my OH, although I might read it first to check there's nothing in there she's not allowed to readFreedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0 -
I think Emma Stone should play Ana she is the only young actress I can think of who is good enough to put some life into her!
And.........Mr Grey?? this guy Matt Bomer he is lush and how I imagined him to be.

He is exactly how I imagined Christian to be too. Ana though I kept imagining a friend. She doesn't have brown hair but the personality just suits her to a T lol0 -
pulliptears wrote: »Thats what I liked about the Midnight Breed and Black Dagger books, their vampires are warriors, 6ft 7" men built like brick outhouses who go out and fight for the world. Along the way they meet the women they love and fight for them etc etc etc. There is no 'lion/lamb' rubbish. They are strong independent women who often fight alongside their men.
I did read Twilight, by 'Breaking Down' I was tearing my hair out.
I imagine any movie of 50 will be better handled. The story itself isn't a bad one, its just the execution of it. As long as they drop the inner goddess crap and feature lots of Mr S in the buff with ropes I'm in
If you like Midnight Breed and Black Dagger, you might probably like Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dark Hunter SeriesIt's not easy having a good time. Even smiling makes my face ache.0 -
Just to disprove your theory I've never read (or seen) any of the Twilight series as have no interest in vampires
Have to confess I am enjoying the second book more as it does appear to have a bit more of a story to it rather than page after page of b0nking
All a bit of 'frippery' and fun and a nice break from some of the worthy tomes I usually read (just trying to prove how highbrow I can be :rotfl::rotfl:).
I can fully appreciate you not reading the Twilight booksI was just saying that all my girly f/b friends were harping about Fifty shades after reading and exhausting all the Twilight stuff.
I've kept quiet regarding "50" because I upset some of the Twilight fans last time by suggesting that Van Helsing played by either Peter Cushing, or (preferably) Hugh Jackman should be introducted into the films and proceed to kick the carp out of all the soppy vampires.
I wasn't popular for a long time after that suggestion. and I got accused of being morbid (but aren't Vampires dead blood suckers??) Shut them up for a while though.:rotfl::T
BEST EVER WINS WON IN ORDER (so far) = Sony Camcorder, 32" lcd telly, micro ipod hifi, Ipod Nano, Playstation 3, Andrex Jackpup, Holiday to USA, nintendo wii, Liverpool vs Everton tickets, £250 Reward Your thirst, £500 Pepsi, p&o rotterdam trip, perfume hamper, Dr Who stamp set, steam cleaner.
comping = nowt more thrillin' than winnin':T :j0 -
I won't be reading it. I had a look at the sample chapter on Amazon and it's very badly written. There's a huge amount of hype about this book, loads of people at my work are reading it but here's the problem. Mostly they're people who don't usually read books, so they wouldn't know a well written book if it smacked them in the face.0

I am about half way through the first book. It's okay but not as good as all the fuss and hysteria over it would have you believe. The best day of your life is the one on which you decide your life is your own, no apologies or excuses. No one to lean on, rely on or blame. The gift is yours - it is an amazing journey - and you alone are responsible for the quality of it. This is the day your life really begins.0

Sadly not available for Kindle, but I remember reading 'Ambition' by Julie Birchill way back in the naughty '90's - that was a fairly cheeky little read!!!! I'm not saying the quality of the writing was brilliant, but the plot grabbed you and the sex scenes meant I hid it from my nosy Mum!0
