This seems the only way to suggest that, as well as his repeated warnings about parking ticket scams, Martin ought to take a look at similar behaviour by Train Operators. If this catches the attention of one of the team, I'd be more than willing to explain why.0

Hi Fitzmichael,
I'm interested by this train news - could you share some more details?
Thanks,

Rebecca would it be possible to close this thread please in view of the new cases people keep pointlessly putting here. The thread doesn't need to be open any more IMHO as long as the final post directs people to the main parking forum where they should read the top sticky threads and then post a new thread:

Any chance of closing it now please?PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

(Yikes, hope this counts an appropriate post!) I just wanted to say thanks to Martin and the team for the letter templates. I recently successfully challenged a parking ticket from Glasgow City Council using them. It got right to the final stage of mentioning court, after which the Council dropped the charges. Had it not been for the templates, I would have been intimidated into paying at an earlier stage rather than holding out. Basically my argument was that the notices displayed (“£1 for 4 hours; £2.50 all day”) didn’t list the specific hours covered by “all day”. There was also an overnight charge (6pm-8am) that was not displayed at the car park which would have helped me realise what I needed to pay. I paid £2 for eight hours, believing I could purchase multiples of four hours. This probably sounds naïve to seasoned drivers who know “all day” means 8am-6pm, but as a new driver, it was the first time I’d ever used a car park and I maintain the signage displayed was ambiguous and incomplete.0

I arrived at a pay when you park car-park in Staines upon Thames and realised I didn't have any change so I set up the phone and park as advised on the notice board. Following the instructions on the notice board, I text my details for the three hour stay. Not sure how the warden patrolling the car-park would know I'd paid the ticket so I told him I'd text it in and he confirmed with a nod to his phone that he'd received it.
I returned to my car within the time slot I thought I'd paid for to find a ticket on the windscreen left within an hour of my arrival.... Cutting a long and boring story short - I emailed my appeal against the ticket, they explained I hadn't entered the information correctly so had to pay. I then stumbled across the advice on this website and using the template, I wrote to them noting an official appeal and after some chasing and grovelling with the person I was in communication with, I had my ticket cancelled
I was so happy, I'd beaten the system!!
Thanks MSE0 -
You grovelled to them? Or they grovelled to you? (I hope the latter).0

Which PPC?
Will give a better picture of the relativity of your success (i.e have you dealt with a Rotweiller or a Poodle) and provide more specific information to newbies who might also come face-to-face with your 'conquest'.

I notice there haven't been a lot of recent posts in here, but if anyone had any thoughts, I'd appreciate them.
I parked in a local town car park and came back to receive a fine. As far as I knew it was free for the first half hour. Upon checking the tariff board when walking to the shops it said it was free for one hour.
After reading the PCN I drove past the tariff board at the top of the car park to double check and it said the first hour was 50p. I drove around the one way system again and it turns out these are two seperate car parks that basically flow straight into one another.
I am yet to find out where the cut off point actually is. I have friends who have lived and parked in the area for years and never knew that they were different car parks or charges.
I have appealed once and been told they will not cancel it. I have returned to take photos of the complete lack of markings to show that they are not one car park.
Any thoughts? This is a council fine, so don't worry about all the private parking info

As we tend to major on private parking tickets here, PePiPoo will be your best bet for council tickets. Here's your link:

Have a read through some of the other threads there before you post your own to get the hang of what information they need from you in your opening post - but as a minimum you will need photos/scans of all correspondence you've received from the council (both sides, if appropriate).
PePiPoo has an excellent success record in dealing with council tickets.
