Is it fair to put someone in an exam with as much as 10 % off before they start?

Right this is my point!
How can you tell us you have asked for help if your telling us you haven't revealed your problem!
Not being funny but you have annoyed a load of people here tonight so i can fully see how you annoy people at your uni0 -
I'll repost this since you changed your post!
Phil. You started this thread regarding 10% disadvantage in exams due to spelling etc. You appear to have two problems your crying about here.
Your mobility and your possible dyslexia. Any normal person would write a letter explaining their condition how it occurred.....your one was at birth and explain you feel this may also have made you dyslexic as well as the mobility problems. Your uni would then have given you a test and the help you need.
Granted it doesn't help the mobility issues. I find it hard to believe your uni cant sort those given my uni is the biggest in Europe going through a crappy screwed up merger and still manages to get things done!
I'm sorry but i honestly believe the problem in this whole situation is you....and i don't mean because of your disability's
EDIT: Tell your dam lecturers then! I did when i had issues and they were so good with me! Always got good marks and plenty of considerations in my marks. If people don't know they cant help. SIMPLE!0 -

Okay, I have told my lecturers and they say "read it again and that will help"
I have told the disability support people by email and phone about my problems and they said lecturers and tutors were the people to see.
So I have told people, but I do think they do not see a huge problem as I am not failing or getting awful marks across the board.
But I do think when I can go from a 43 in one module to a 65 in another that there is a problem somewhere.:beer:0 -

So this quote is a lie then?
Phil i'm not being funny but your story changes every post and you now appear to be lying!
To be honest no lecturer would say that to someone with possible dyslexia. They would tell you to go and get tested and tell you where in the uni does it.
I think maybe your getting the response you are is because there is nothing wrong with you and maybe they know that. Maybe they just see you as a slacker, lets be honest someone with dyslexia would perform consistently poorly over a course such as yours. The very fact your scores vary like that is probably down to you being crap at some modules and not others.....putting effort in in some and not others. My marks were like yours but i didnt moan or think there was somthing wrong with me.
I found somethings harder than others. Somethings i didnt grasp at all. In a subject such as yours you sometimes find particular Drs or Proffs dont like your work where another one would....this is the nature of literature.0 -

The university know of my problems from me telling them and their student monitoring (if they had any) should set the alarm bells ringing as my marks are so much all over the place. But I seem to get missed or fobbed off for some reason:beer:0 -

Again your lying phil.....you have said in the quote above they don't know!
I have just told you phil my marks were all over the place...ranging from 75 down to 32%!
There is nothing wrong with me! I was just cack at some modules!

Why would my lecturers even say Dyslexia to me as dyslexia has never been linked to me? (if they even know what dyslexia is). You see why I feel so unhappy as I do have problems and all that people inside universities think is put downs like lazy?:beer:0 -
All I have said to my lecturers is that I am really slow at reading and I find it hard to understand and that I am really slow at writing. There is no reason to that they( as untrained in disabilities) should say I am dyslexic is there?:beer:0

Are you for real? Sorry but are you a forum troll?
In post number 111 you said your lecturers know nothing of your dyslexia. In 114 you say they do and now you say they don't!
Not being funny if your such a joker to think your lecturers are so stupid to not know what dyslexia is then why are you at uni? I think the issue is you Phil and you alone.
There is nothing wrong with your uni or the way it is run or the support they provide its you and the fact you lie, change your story, cover things up and don't just tell people what your problem is!
your unhappiness is caused by you so pat yourself on your own back for all the problems you have described in this thread and pat yourself on your own back for your unhappiness. Your a lost cause and i feel pity for those at your uni that have had to deal with you! How anyone could try and help you i don't know.0 -
