I think I've come up with the solution. Why not take the bag back to the salon and get them to cover the rest of it in the dye they used for your hair?
Then - hey presto - you and the bag will match 100%! If I know anything about the laydeez, it's that matching your accessories is key.
You're welcome.0 -
Or get someone to persuade Cheryl Cole to carry a bag with a stain on it. Instant height of fashion.0

My advice - take the £100
Don't go there again. Next time you go to the hairdressers leave your bag at home, take a carrier bag.

I'd say you are entitled to compensation, but not sure this has any relevance to credit cards.
I would ask for the details of the salons public liability insurance.
Do you have any free legal advice or legal cover on your household insurance?
BTW - You do not need a solicitor (although if you have one available for free why not?). There is a "small claims track" where you can take someone to court for only £35.0 -

The OP has every right to spend £695 on a handbag if she wishes! We all might spend money on things that others consider ridiculous, but that is our choice and as long as the money is legally come by, what is the problem?0 -

£695 for a handbag? Are you insane?
Take the £100 offered and buy yourself some £20 handbags that you wont mind if they get accidently damaged.
What would concern me more is that the hair salon didn't have the actual colour you wanted but you carried on and let them do your hair in a different shade. Why?

Not the bleeding point - and you're in no place to be questioning the OPs sanity because she chose to save and buy a bag which you consider to be expensive. Your entire post is pointless - how does it teach anyone to not buy a £695 bag?
OP, if you're inclined to stand the hassle push back on them. They were clearly just trying to make you back down. And no you dont strictly need a solicitor for this. Tell them they are talking nonsense. This sort of thing annoys me - pay for a sevice and what you get are snarky, incompetent chavs.0 -

Yup, always best to have matching collars and cuffs!0 -

I cannot believe the abuse the OP has received from her post!
It's her freedom of choice to pick whatever hair colour she wants, and also what bag she uses as well!
As she stated, she saved hard to buy the bag, so can indulge in whatever takes her fancy. And if that is £700 on a bag, so be it! Personally, I have a weakness for Breitling watches. I know they don't tell the time any better than a cheap Casio, but heck, I work hard and if I want to treat myself to a Navitimer, then thats my prerogative.
I bet some of the posters hurling abuse would think nothing of the money they spend on their fags on a daily basis.
to the OP - I would call their bluff and demand maybe £200 or you will take them to court for the bag and also for their shoddy work on your hair as well.0 -

Unfortunately that's what you get when you come for free advice.
I agree we are all entitled to indulge in whatever we like.
The OP would be better checking out their home insurance to see if they have free legal advice or cover.
Failing that she needs to decide whether it's worth pursuing.
The cost of going to the small claims court (or moneyclaim online) starts at £35 but then there is a potential day or half day off work to attend court and possibly travel costs.
On the other hand if the salon get a legal letter then they might pass it onto their insurance.
Personally I'd advise opther to put their handbag directly under the chair or if it's expensive then ask for it to go behind the reception desk.
Also might be worth considering taking a cheaper bag or even a plastic one if you are going somewhere it might be mucky.
That doesn't change the compo situation.
I am uncelar on a few of the legal matter, like who is liable the salon or the stylist and who has to have the liability insruance and whether the are obliged to give details.
These are all the sorts of things a solicitor would answer, so if availabel for free then use it.0
