i am not a troll , i don't begrudge the op spending money on a bag i understand what it like i want a louisvuitton man bag however if i was going to a hairdressers to get my hair dyed it would be left at home .
i know she wants compensation etc
She doesn't want compensation, she just wants to be put back in the same position as the start - with an undamaged bag.
*probably the first post where I've ever stuck up for someone where the 'c' word is mentioned!0 -

It's now unique not damaged! Give me the hair dye formulation and I'll bet I can remove it for less than £100. Why not?0 -
OP
You say you put it where you deemded it to be safe. Where was that? Hair gets absolutly everywhere in a hair salon, why would you think that hair dye wouldn't get everywhere as well?
Perhaps you thought the hundreds of pounds bag made you look good and made some kind of statement? I know what statement I think you are making!0 -

Everyone takes a handbag into a salon, the fact that it was an expensive bag is immaterial, the salon has a duty of care. As for your last comment, that makes a statement about you too.0 -

The difference is hair comes off your head, hair dye on.
When I work in to a salon I don't see dye all over - in fact if I did I imagine the manager/owner would have a heart attack!0 -
Surely there's no point in arguing about what a fair price is for the bag and what the OP should or should not accept - none of us really know who much that bag would cost to replace.
As for the OP being criticized for taking her bag into a salon at all, the stylist surely should use her knowledge and common sense to move a bag that she thinks SHE may possibly get hair dye on? It sounds like she was working in a pretty careless manner for this to happen at all.0 -
Having perused the comments on this thread i can only come to the conclusion that at the end of the day its just a bag nobody died0
-
Having read through the posts on this thread i think you have been made a more than fair offer, its only a bag after all nobody died0

I wonder if you would take this same approach if an uninsured driver wrote your car off0 -

Yes the judge would make a decision based on facts from both parties, proof, and any depreciation of hand bag.
Personally i would not take my designer bags into a saloon and if so feel it would be my responsibility, my property my insurance. if all my hair fell out then i would sue the salon0
