New cat litter to try????
Comments

Phew, well I am glad that Tigerino is doing ok in the rigorous MSE challenges. I have to say I am pretty happy with it so far.
I do still wonder why some cats manage to produce perfectly clumped wee-wees, and others it's all crumbly!0 -

So that's 27.7p / litre - the Tigerino is less than 2 x this (if the 2 x 30L bags are bought).
I am 100% sure that the Tigerino will last more than 2 x longer than the Al*di stuff......georgiesmum wrote: ȣ40 for litter
What does that figure relate to?
Yes, some people may have spent that but only because they've stocked up while a really good offer has been on ..... very sensible IMHOGrocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)

OK ..... I have a complaint
2 litter boxes are out - they used to share but when they errrr "fell out" and had to be separated, there were obviously 2 and I've never managed to get them back to using just the one - Box 1 has the original wood pellets in & Box 2 has the Tigerino in.
Since the Tigerino's been out, neither of them has set foot in the tray with the wood pellets in! (I have positive evidence that both have used the Tigerino;))
So ..... the Tigerino obviously gets the "paws up" from the cats :j...... but I'd just bought a month's worth of wood pellets when I was paid
.
I'll leave both trays out for a week and see what happens but, if it stays like this, I'll be going back to one tray :j:j:j and I guess the wood pellets will be getting stored in the garage in case we're snowed in again this year!:)Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)

Silly question ....... being a total novice at this clumping stuff!
Obviously I've been scooping bits out (with very little waste I will add:j) - 2 questions:
1) do you usually top up with fresh stuff regularly - or leave until it gets quite empty and do a total change
2) if you do top up with fresh stuff - how often do you do a full change / clean tray etc

Fab, thanks GR

OK - the leftovers of Oko been sifted and moved to one box.
Half a bag of 10litre Tigerino has gone to the new massive tray.
All cats more interested in the new tray now - will be difficult to compare LOL
So far:
IMHO - clumps better than OKO, tracks just the same .. sigh....0 -
I know it's early days but have to say I'm very impressed
- after my very unsuccessful attempt with clumping stuff many years ago (which seemed to turn into concrete when wet & was really dusty:eek:) - I wish I'd tried something like this years ago!:o
I opened one of my 30L bags ..... let see how long it lasts!
Still no use of the tray with the wood pellets in - wondering how long to leave it before lifting it? (any suggestions ......)
Would be fantastic just to have the one tray again & it'll free up a fair bit of space as both as the ginormous trays.:)
I think I may have to take a trip to the rescue - I've got a few bits & pieces lying around (couple of open small litter trays, 1/2 full 25L bin of wood pellets (& no bag to tip it into) and have already filled the "emergency winter bin" in the garage with unopened wood pellets:eek:Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)

Got back home few min ago - both trays have been used same way it seems.
Clumping - Tigerino wins.
Tracking - Jesusssssssssssssssssssssssss same a OKO unfortunately. Even from the hooded tray.......
Called my daughetr to look for the 2 mats (matts?) she bought ages ago and bring them here next time she visits....0 -

I scoop regularly - 4 to 5 times a day. I remove all waste and don't worry too much about shaking too much excess litter off the poo.
I do a complete change, clean, disinfect, and refill with completely clean litter every two weeks with OKO (and prob with Tigerino too the way it's going).
The reason why I don't get too much excess off the poo and why I don't sift/re-use old litter is because of the very real risk of FIP (Feline Infectious Peritonitis). This is a fatal, and unfortunately common, virus that is not unusual in multi-cat households and is thought to be most commonly transmitted through faeces.0
